Hulu Plus Confirmed For Android 2.2

Having long been rumored, Hulu Plus for Android was finally confirmed during Samsung's press conference at CES. During the Keynote, Hulu's CEO Jason Kilar demoed the app running on the Samsung Galaxy S, announcing, for the first time, that the subscription service was being developed for Android.

Google and Hulu have not always seen eye-to-eye, so it was fortuitous that Samsung was able to mend the bridges and bring this amazing service to the Android platform.

Pretend You're A Musician On The Go With Rock Band Mobile, Complete With Multiplayer

Well, folks, the hits keep on coming from CES. Verizon, who seems to be dominating the Android portion of the conference, has just sent us word of its latest foray into the gaming world with Rock Band Mobile. For now, it is only available on Verizon LTE devices and allows you to play some of your favorite songs wirelessly with your friends. It also allows you to play all of your favorite instruments from the console version, including vocals, which will, arguably, be the most fun to do in a quiet waiting room.

Skype Mobile For Android: Now With Video Calling (On Verizon’s LTE Devices)

Sure, Qik, Yahoo, and Fring all have Android-based video calling apps (not to mention that Google's probably planning one of its own), but we all know this is an area Skype dominates. A few days ago, the company updated its iPhone app with the feature, though we Android users haven't had access to it... until now.

At their press conference at CES, Verizon announced that the feature will be available to customers on its new LTE network.

Skype To Buy Qik For A Cool $150 Million

Word around the web is that Skype is in the process of purchasing Qik for a cool $150 million. While not expected, the deal isn't exactly surprising, either: Skype is already a major player in the internet phone business, and in 2010, Qik substantially expanded its presence in mobile video calling and streaming. In fact, 2010 was huge for Qik: they expanded their customer base from 600,000 to 5 million users - roughly an eight-fold increase.

Android + PacMan + Google Maps = PacMap

Yesterday, we received an email tip about a new app called PacMap, which blends virtual/augmented reality, Google Maps, and... PacMan. Unsure of what to make or think of this potentially dangerous, but extremely original and interesting concept, I decided to test the waters last night by submitting the app to reddit. This morning, it was #1 in /r/android, which shows that thinking outside the box is always welcomed. Oh, and did I mention that PacMap is open source?

MIUI Digital Clock Widget Hits Android Market - Give Your Handset The MIUI Feel Tonight

The MIUI ROM is definitely one of the most magical things on Android today. A mix between iOS and Android, the ROM is beautiful, fast, and allows for user-created themes.  At times, it doesn't even look like Android. It is a real change; different, but great. In my humble opinion, two of the best parts of the ROM are the beautiful weather widget and digital clock widget. For some time now I have wanted both the digital clock widget and weather widget on my 2.2.1 Nexus One, and now thanks to the development team Factory Widgets, I am now able to use the MIUI digital clock widget outside of the MIUI ROM, and so can you!

Solar Wind: An Amazing, Trippy Live Wallpaper

Many Android owners seem to have a love/hate relationship with live wallpapers - no matter how stunning they are, they generally zap performance and battery life too much to be used for long. Here's one that might work on both sides of the coin: meet Solar Wind LWP.

As you can see, it's... well, it's a bit hard to describe. It mainly consists of multi-colored strings of dots swirling around.
