[Updated] Guerrilla Bob, Cross-Platform Shooter With Multiplayer Support And Stunning 3D Graphics, Now In The Android Market

It seems that the Android Market's gaming content has been improving by leaps and bounds lately, has it not? It was just a few months ago that Doodle Jump and Replica Island were some of the best our beloved OS could offer. While we still appreciate our humble beginnings, those days are long gone and mustached mercenary Guerrilla Bob is here to announce that - with his machine guns blazing.

An import from iOS, Angry Mob Games' Guerrilla Bob is a top-down action-packed shooter that pits a Rambo-like, cigar-chomping avenger (you guessed it, Guerrilla Bob) against an army of baddies ranging from terrorists to bulldozer-driving madmen.

Video: Angry Birds Rio To Lose Pigs, Add Boss Fights

A video of Ville Heijari, a Rovio "Bird Whisperer" (aka representative), showing off the gameplay of the upcoming Angry Birds Rio popped up on YouTube this morning. While the gameplay looks like much of the same kamikaze fowl-smashing action we have come to know and love, there are a few new additions. The evil pigs and stolen eggs are gone, animal poachers are in, and you now have boss fights.

The Rovio employee described the upcoming game as featuring "no eggs, no pigs, but just pure anger."

37 Best (And 3 WTF) New Android Apps, Games, And Live Wallpapers From Last Week (3/9/11 - 3/15/11)

Welcome to the weekly roundup of the best new Android applications, games, and live wallpapers that went live in the Market or were spotted by us in the previous week or so.

One thing I'd like to point out this week - the apps are just getting prettier and prettier. They are no longer those ugly ogre-like beasts we used to see so much, but polished, pretty flowers (I mean, muscle cars, beer, bench press, aww, it's too late now).

Interestingly, Rovio has decided not to use their old partners GetJar for the launch of this eagerly awaited game; instead it will be available exclusively through the Amazon Appstore. It is unclear at this time exactly how long this exclusive agreement will last and when the game will debut in the Android Market.

[Review] Hextacy: Smash These Hexagons, Because You're Still Being Too Productive

If there's one thing I hate, it's getting too much work done. Sometimes I just need to slow down and utilize my brain power to find patterns and combinations in a series of colored, hexagon shaped tiles - that's why I was so stoked when I found Hextacy. If you, too, suffer from cripplingly high efficiency, I think I can help. Follow me, and I'll show you how you can feel like you have free time, even at the office.

Those of you Android users who were hoping that you would get some Playstation love without having to buy the upcoming Xperia Play (dubbed the Playstation Phone by some) just got some good news. It was revealed in NVIDIA's Tegra Zone app that original Playstation games Wild Arms, Cool Boarders 2, and Syphon Filter will be among those available.

Angry Birds Seasons Updates For St. Patrick's Day, Brings The Drunken Heat To The Pigs

Angry Birds Seasons Updates For St. Patrick's Day, Brings The Drunken Heat To The Pigs

If you haven't checked the Android Market for updates recently, you may not have noticed that Angry Birds Seasons updated to incorporate St. Patrick's Day into its pig-smashing holiday repertoire.  Now you'll have something for your non-beer-holding hand to do while you pound those green brews (or green McDonald's milk shakes, for you youngins) during everyone's favorite celebration of superfluous, oddly-colored beer imbibition. They've re-done all the characters and levels in the usual Seasons fashion, and, honestly, this is one of my personal favorites:

You can grab it right now from the Android Market:

As a rule, I don't condone drunken bird-throwing but, because it's a holiday, I may just make an exception.

Scoreloop's method is to offer an entire assistance program that holds the hands of devs every step of the way from Cupertino to Mountain View.
