It all makes sense now. GetJar's servers crashing, the number of times our post announcing the arrival of the full version of Angry Birds was re-tweeted, the amount of cash Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, must be rolling in right now...

[Updated: Now In The Android Market] It's Live! Download The Full Version Of Angry Birds Right Now [v1.3.5 + Mirrors]

The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here. A few hours ago, the full version of the most anticipated Android game ever, Angry Birds, has hit the Android Mar... errrr... GetJar Market, exclusively. Instead of uploading to the official Market first, Rovio decided to go for an alternative market called GetJar, probably in a deal to promote it. The Market version is promised "soon," which would be good right about now, as GetJar apparently wasn't prepared for the influx of visitors and promptly crashed for a couple of hours.

Full Version Of Angry Birds Coming Friday – Here Is What To Expect [Hands-On]

Last week, I had to deliver disappointing news about the full version of Angry Birds, the most addicting game on Android, getting delayed till this week, mostly due to proper multi-tasking support. Today, I'm glad to report that not only did Rovio commit to a Friday (tomorrow) release, as evident from the screenshot below, but also sent us a full version to play with.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to shoot a video review, but I did, however, collect some interesting screenshots together with all the info you need to know, presented in my most favorite bullet point style:

  • the version that was sent to us contains ads (see screenshot #7 below) which shows up from time to time, I'd say about once per level
  • in our email exchange, the company also hinted at an interesting distribution model, which they didn't disclose.

Full Tilt Set To Launch Real-Money Rush Poker App

There are times when it pays to be an Android user, literally. Poker enthusiast website PokerTwitch received word that Full Tilt's Rush Poker will soon be coming to some lucky Froyo-running Android phones. This appears to be the first genuine real-money poker game for Android and trumps the offerings in Apple's strict App store whose policies do not permit gambling for real currency. There are online solutions available but none so convenient as a native application.

AppBrain Now Lets You Easily Filter Adobe Air Based Android Apps

With the release of Adobe Air on Android last week, many users were left wondering how exactly they could use the new 15+ MB clunker. A day after the release, however, the Market was booming with Air apps, ranging from the most basic demos to video calling to gems like this one.

Manual and therefore static by nature attempts, such as this app list by user webkitchen, were a good start but they were simply not sustainable.

AppBrain App Updated Again, Adds Handful Of New (Awesome) Features

Looks like the already-awesome AppBrain App Market app (yea, it's a little hard to wrap your head around that one) has been updated today, and now includes some pretty awesome new features:

  • Cloud to Device app uninstalls
  • Set wallpaper
  • Send URL to phone
  • Landscape mode
  • Dark theme

Cloud to device uninstalls are by far the big winner there - AppBrain already allowed some pretty awesome remote control over your phone's apps via your PC, and remote uninstall is a major addition to the existing feature set.

The Bad News: Full Version Of Angry Birds For Android Delayed To Next Week. The Good News: You Have Your Life Back... For Now

If there is one game on Android that keeps me coming back to it, even after I already beat all the levels, it's Angry Birds. The beta version, limited to 15 levels, was released about a month ago and proved to be a completely undeniable success, reaching 250k downloads in only 4 days. The game is so addicting that beating your own high scores can become a full time job to some.

Yesterday Chickenbrick Software, makers of Cestos, released Cestos 2:Party Time. This time around, Cestos will be taking advantage of the OpenFeint network to add an extra layer of awesome to the gameplay.

The game has been totally revamped from the ground up. It looks great and the gameplay is smooth.

They've added all new modes, new add-ons for your avatar, and new social options...that don't work yet

All in all, though, Cestos 2 is still fun, still eating away a large chunk of my time, and is definitely a worthy successor to Cestos.
