App store analytics company Distimo has released a report reviewing the changes in the Apple, Android, Blackberry, and Nokia app stores in 2010, and the results are impressive for all four. To highlight a few points from the 28 page report:

  • The Apple App Store is still by far the largest, with roughly 300,000 apps. The Android Market is second at 130,000, the Nokia Ovi Store checks in at 25,000, and the BlackBerry App World manages a respectable 18,000.

Rope Cut, A Cut The Rope Clone, Enters The Android Market

Back in October of last year, ZeptoLab, the maker of a very popular iOS game Cut The Rope, announced its tentative plans to port the hit to Android, albeit without an expected release date. We've waited for a few months, but the release didn't come (though, I'm sure, they're hard at work). Feelingtouch Inc, however, didn't want to wait and in the meantime developed and released a clone - Rope Cut.

Pretend You're A Musician On The Go With Rock Band Mobile, Complete With Multiplayer

Well, folks, the hits keep on coming from CES. Verizon, who seems to be dominating the Android portion of the conference, has just sent us word of its latest foray into the gaming world with Rock Band Mobile. For now, it is only available on Verizon LTE devices and allows you to play some of your favorite songs wirelessly with your friends. It also allows you to play all of your favorite instruments from the console version, including vocals, which will, arguably, be the most fun to do in a quiet waiting room.

All Hexage Games 50% Off Until Monday

There's no question Hexage's Android games are state-of-the-art - in fact, EVAC was #1 on our list of non-Angry Birds games - but there are those of you reluctant to spend your hard-earned cash on a game for your phone.

PSA: There Are Some Trojans In Some Apps... Somewhere. Remain Vigilant, Friends.

I've been avoiding this one for a few days because it doesn't really seem like much of an issue to me, but it hasn't gone away, so I've changed my tune. Maybe this post will help somebody from getting a Trojan - and that has to count for some brownie points or something, right?

For the past few days, security-app maker Lookout (who you may remember for their App Genome Project) has been warning folks about a new AndVirus (yeah, just made that up) they've found called Geinimi.

[Review] Super Drill Panic Takes You Back To 1992; Also, The Center Of The Earth

A new round of games that incorporate one of my favorite Android services, OpenFeint, has recently been released. We've gotten our all-too-idle hands on several of these games and, let me tell you, some impressive things are being brought to the table.  While flipping through the games and wasting all of my time, one game stuck out to me. Maybe it was the nostalgic feel of it. Maybe it was the Indiana Jones throwback feeling of it.

[Comic] Plan: Buy Nexus S, Write Awesome Android App.

If you're ever looking for a good webcomic, look no further than Abstruse Goose. Case in point: today's Nexus S comic. There's not much to say about it, so here it is:

Rovio_is_pure_evil

Bonus lols: the image name is "Rovio_is_pure_evil.PNG."

Probably safe to say we've all been in a similar situation - which is pretty good for Rovio.

Dungeon Defenders: First Wave Just Released To Market, PvP Arena Announced!

It's certainly been a good few days for Android gaming, hasn't it? And it looks like the trend is still going: the hotly anticipated Android version of popular iOS game Dungeon Defenders has just landed in the Market with a holiday price of $3. What makes the game so great? Aside from the fact that it's powered by the Unreal engine (!) - which means the graphics are superb - it's long been one of the best-rated iOS games on the market.
