BOLT Browser Closes Shop Due To Economic Circumstances

BOLT Browser, which touted tabbed browsing and high speeds in an effort to provide a capable replacement for Android's stock browser, has been discontinued due to economic circumstances, according to the app's website:

The news came earlier today as BOLT's listing in the Android Market vanished, and the app's website closed down, leaving only the above note. While BOLT may not have been the most robust browser solution for Android, it's always a little sad to see an app go like this, especially considering the fact that BOLT debuted only a couple of months ago.

Love Using Facebook On-The-Go? You're Not The Only One - According To Nielsen, It's The Most Launched Android App (Save For The Market, That Is)

Ready to hear some oh-so shocking news? Okay, here it comes - Facebook is the most launched app on Android. Well, if you want to get technical about it, Facebook isn't really the most launched app - it actually shows up in the list right behind the Android Market, but considering the Market is the gateway to all other apps (including Facebook, in most cases), it's pretty safe to omit it.

Google Voice Calls To The U.S. And Canada To Remain Free Until The End Of 2012

While the Google Voice app has always been free, there was speculation that voice calls to the United States and Canada would begin to cost you money at the beginning of next year. However, new Google Voice users are being greeted by a pop-up window when they first use the Call Phone feature in Gmail that indicates otherwise.

See there? Calls to the U.S. and Canada are free in 2012. If there is anything I love more than free voice calling, it's another year of entirely free calling through Google Voice.

[Update: It's Back] YouMail Pulled From Android Market Due To A Complaint From T-Mobile Citing "Adverse Network Disruption"

Update: Looks like YouMail has gotten to the bottom of the issue. Turns out that it was a bug in the code (a bug they were aware of, no less) and they didn't realize how severe the issue actually was. They've since corrected the issue (or are in the process of), and will be back in the Android Market shortly. For full details, check out the YouMail Blog.

YouMail, a popular (and free) visual voice mail solution, mysteriously disappeared from the Android Market today.

[Editorial] Is Google's 10 Billion Apps Promotion Hurting Developers Who Aren't Part Of It? It Sure Looks That Way

In case you haven't heard, Google has been offering 10 apps a day for just $0.10 each as part of a 10 day promotion to celebrate the 10 billionth download from the Android Market. For end users, this promotion has been fantastic, as it offers quality paid apps for next to nothing.
