PowerAMP, my music player of choice, has just been updated with a number of new features and fixes, the most exciting of which to me are the addition of reconfigurable widgets and widget management. You can now tap the top right corner of a PowerAMP widget to go to a new management UI where you can customize and completely change it without the need to remove and recreate it from scratch. For those unfamiliar, the BBC iPlayer allows our friends in the United Kingdom to watch live BBC programming on the go. Featured shows and up to seven days of previous content are also available for streaming. The application is incompatible with international devices, so don't bother paying the Play Store a visit if London is more than a couple hundred miles away from where you live. And the latest update to the app ushers in support for 1080p displays, allowing it to take advantage of the latest-gen handsets. Read More
Shortly before the Facebook Home launch, some users noticed a new version of Facebook was available on their device, but it wasn't through the Play Store. Instead, the update came directly through the app, bypassing the Store altogether. Naturally, there was outrage, people were angry, felt violated, and whatnot. For Facebook, however, this was a way of getting a beta version of its app out to some users without having to give it to all users. Read More
Even in its current and somewhat dated form, AirDroid is easily one of the best apps on the Google Play Store. The sheer flexibility and polish of the remote access tool has made it one of the first things I install on any new device. The original AirDroid is still great, but for the last few months the development team at Sand Studio has been beta testing AirDroid version 2, with a ton of new features added to its original toolset. Allow me to be blunt for a moment: AOL's Moviefone was in desperate need of a makeover. Sure, back in the day the styling was appropriate – but now we want Holo. Everywhere.
Good news: the most recent update to Moviefone ditches the old tabbed-style interface for a much nicer-looking Holo-esque interface and dark color scheme. It really is quite nice looking – especially in comparison to the former version: Read More

Remember the Milk lovers – tired of that drab old interface? Ready for something new and exciting? Want to remember your milk on a bigger screen than your phone's? Today's your lucky day! The app was just updated to v3, which brings all sorts of new features.
First, and most obvious, you get a whole new interface. It actually reminds me a lot of Evernote, which is a good thing for this sort of app – I find the stacked card interface to be quite intuitive. Read More
It's hard out there for a football fan. With almost five months to go and nothing but basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, NASCAR, and that game all the foreigners play with their feet to tide us over, it's going to be a long summer. If you're one of the millions who can't get enough of fantasy football, you can kill time with the official ESPN Fantasy Football app, updated for the Draft and thankfully devoid of an annual re-title. The BBC iPlayer video application has been available to Android-totting Englishmen for some time, but the audio equivalent has sadly lagged behind. Today the app finally lands on Android, and it was worth the wait: BBC Licence Fee subscribers can listen to the various radio stations over WiFi or mobile Internet, and it even works when they travel abroad. Unfortunately, the service isn't available to international users at any price.
The interface of iPlayer Radio is an interesting mix of Holo elements and unique ideas, particularly a station selector that apes an old-school rotary phone dialer. Read More
