The 5 best and worst things about the Samsung Galaxy Note10

You know what you're getting with each new Galaxy Note release: a big honkin' display, great build, great performance, and of course, the S Pen. Those things are all still true of the Note10 and 10+ — but frankly, it's getting a little predictable at this point. Here are the five best and worst things about Samsung's newest Note(s).

Microsoft Store trade-in deal offers up to $650 towards Galaxy Note10 purchase

Samsung's trade-in programs are usually pretty appealing, but they're not the most reliable in terms of paying out. If you've been looking to get some decent money out of your new phone, Microsoft Stores are currently handing out up to $650 with in-person trade-ins towards the purchase of a Note10 or Note10+.

Grab a 256GB Galaxy Note10+ for $920 ($180 off)

We didn't think you'd be getting the best deals on a Galaxy Note10 or Note10+ from Microsoft in the first place, so to report that Samsung's newest mainstream, stylus-equipped phablets are on sale in the United States from Microsoft on eBay doubly confounds us. And yet, because we don't look at gift horses in their mouths, here we are.

Galaxy Note10+ review: Reaching peak Note

The Galaxy Note10+ is the biggest Galaxy Note Samsung's released yet (which tends to be the case every year), but I'll get straight to the point: it's quite possibly the one with the fewest differences from its smaller Galaxy S siblings, as well. Even size doesn't seem to be much of a differentiator anymore, as the six-month-old Galaxy S10+ is a scant few millimeters shorter and narrower than the mighty Note10+. This is where I've ended up after using the phone for a couple of weeks, and I just can't shake that comparison.

The Galaxy Note10+ is now in the lay people's hands and some of them might be wondering what's going on inside their phones. A few might even be tempted to wedge their fingernails right under the tightly-sealed back cover of the phone. Well, for the rest of us, there's Zack Nelson of YouTube fame and another JerryRigEverything video to scratch that itch.

Samsung Galaxy Note10 arrives, officially available at most carriers and retailers

Today is the Galaxy Note 10's official release date, with "pre-order" flipping over to "buy" at most websites. With the formal release, many of the early promotional offers are gone, though you can still snag up to $600 off with a recent trade-in via Samsung, and some carriers are still running their own discounts and trade-in programs. While in-store retailer and carrier availability may vary, the Note10 is now available and listed as "in stock" in most places.

Samsung releases DeX desktop app for use with the Galaxy Note10

Earlier this month, we reported Samsung DeX would support a new mode that lets you run it as a window on your desktop. Naturally, in order to achieve this, you would need to install a dedicated app on your computer, which wasn't available until today. Samsung just released it on its site, and you can now download it for Windows and macOS.

[Update: PPS required] Charging the Galaxy Note10+ at its fastest speed will require a separate charger

If you're in the position where the biggest phone is the better phone for you, the Galaxy Note10+ will hit that mark for you — it's got a bigger screen with more pixels and it has a bigger battery than the normal Note. But if you really want to take advantage of the fastest rates you can get for your plus-sized phablet, you'll need to ditch the wall wart in the box and buy another one. Don't worry, we'll explain why and help you out.

The Galaxy Note10 marks the end of Google Daydream and Gear VR

Samsung's Galaxy Note10 was officially announced last week, and while it's jam-packed with almost everything most people could want in a smartphone, it also dropped a few features: the headphone jack is completely gone, and the microSD card slot isn't present on the smaller model. It has also become evident over the past few days that the Note10 doesn't support any mobile VR platform, marking an end to both Gear VR and Google Daydream.
