If you haven't had enough PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in your life, I have some good news, there's a new PUBG game coming to mobile, and it's called PUBG: New State. It's coming to Android and iOS this year, and supposedly it will offer an exclusive map, ultra-realistic graphics, and it should be optimized from the ground up for mobile play.

The above trailer offers the first look at PUBG: New State, and as you can see, it's PUBG, but with slightly fancier graphics. More or less, it looks like it plays just like any other battle royale.

Like all mobile game announcements, there isn't much information available today outside of the above trailer and a few screenshots. So far, we know that PUBG: New State will take place in the future, which means it's set in the year 2051. Supposedly the game is being designed to "push the limits" of a mobile release by utilizing a new tech called Global Illumination, so expect better graphics. We also know a new weapon customization feature will allow players to transform their weapons.

Of course, the big news is that PUBG: New State will offer a brand-new map for the series, though you have to wonder why something like this isn't simply new content for the core game. Perhaps the ban in India spurred the New State offshoot, though we already know the global release will not include India, China, or Vietnam, so that seems unlikely. Regardless, as long as both games exist, the player base will be split, which seems like an odd path to purposefully go down.

Still, even though we don't have much to go on yet, PUBG: New State is already available for pre-registration on the Play Store. So if you'd like to read through the game's description or would like to receive a pre-reg notification on whatever day the game is launched this year, you can easily navigate to the new listing through the Play Store widget at the bottom of the page.

PUBG: New State's closed alpha will be limited to Android devices in the US

As you would expect, Krafton is slowly trickling out information for PUBG: New State, and so the studio has just released a trailer today that announces a closed alpha test will take place in the US on Android devices in the next couple of days. Of course, the studio didn't mention an actual date, which means we can expect another announcement fairly soon. So basically, the above video serves as an announcement for an upcoming announcement, and so the trickling of information will more than likely continue until everyone is sick of hearing about this game, just like the current version of PUBG. So stay tuned, as this story will assuredly drag on for months to come, and perhaps as we inch closer to the official release Krafton will find the courage to show the game in action.

The PUBG: New State closed alpha begins June 11th

Two days ago, Krafton released a video stating that alpha testing for PUBG: New State would begin in the US soon, and today we've learned that this alpha will start on June 11th, plus there's a fresh new trailer available to coincide with today's announcement, but just like the rest it's also a cinematic.

The application period for the upcoming alpha begins today, and if you'd like to throw your hat into the ring, you can sign up on the official PUBG: New State website, and you can also sign up simply by pre-registering on the Play Store. This application period will end on June 6, and then the alpha is expected to run from June 11th to June 13th.

Krafton is looking to receive feedback from players during this short alpha, which will ideally be used to ensure the game is released in an acceptable state. While we still don't know when the official release will take place, Krafton will assuredly trickle out new info, so stay tuned.

PUBG: New State's second alpha announced, and here's a trailer

Krafton has revealed that a second closed alpha for PUBG: New State will take place this month. The last alpha was available in June, but it was only released in the US for a couple of days. This is more than likely why the upcoming second alpha is set to take place across Europe and Asia through 28 separate regions, to spread some of the love.

This means those in Bahrain, Cambodia, Taipei, Egypt, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen will have a chance to enter into the second closed alpha. Sign ups start today, and the closed alpha will run from August 27th to the 29th.

Just like the last closed alpha, feedback during testing will be used to improve the game. What's new is that broader support for devices is expected with the launch of the second alpha, which means more Android device support along with the first appearance of the alpha on iOS. Keep in mind registration starts today, so if you'd like to take the game for a spin in your respective closed alpha territory during the two days it will be available, you can sign up on the official PUBG: New State website. And if you're curious to see what you should expect, you can check out my gameplay video that I recorded during the last alpha.
