Google’s original Pixelbook offered a premium option to anyone looking for a high-end Chrome OS convertible. More than two years since, we haven’t seen a proper follow-up, and all we got last year was a plasticky, $650 Pixelbook Go, which, by the way, we liked quite a bit. At last month’s CES event, Samsung came out with the Galaxy Chromebook, which David thought could be a worthy successor to the 2017 Google laptop. The Samsung convertible is now headed to the US, according to an online listing, but it won’t get an LTE variant.

Best Buy has already listed the Samsung Chromebook in two color variants—Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray—with a coming soon badge. The listing adds that the 8GB+256GB variant of the notebook is set for release on April 6 for $1,000, while there is no word on the option with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage space, which Samsung talked about at launch. Samsung’s US site previously said that the LTE variant would be available, but the company later clarified in a communication with About Chromebooks that only the non-LTE configuration will be sold for now. It’s entirely possible that the 16GB+1TB model may arrive with LTE support at a future date.
As previously indicated, Samsung’s high-end Galaxy Chromebook is now available for purchase from Best Buy, while the buying page on Samsung’s own site isn’t live yet. Only the base model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD has gone on sale in both bright red and gray color options for a price of $999. You can either pick up your order from a nearby Best Buy store or opt for the free delivery option, while the retailer is also offering next-day delivery to some zip codes. We’re still awaiting the availability details of the variant with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD.
