HandyGames has announced today that its tactical spinoff title Rebel Cops is coming to Android sometime in the future. This is the same developer behind the games This Is the Police and its sequel, and while Rebel Cops has been available on Steam since September, it's nice to know a mobile version is in the works. Potential players should expect 15-hours of playtime in this turn-based strategy game, and of course, the gameplay and UI have been optimized for mobile play.
Linked above is the official trailer for the mobile version of Rebel Cops, so it should provide a quick look of what you can expect from the upcoming mobile port. As you can see, this is a turn-based tactical game, similar in style to the X-Com series. It will be your job to lead a ragtag squad of cops in a rebellion against their town's criminal power, so expect a gritty theme that's most likely only suitable for adults.
Since today's announcement came by surprise, details about the mobile version of Rebel Cops are still light. We do know that the game will be a premium release, so it will not contain any in-app purchases or advertisements, much like the last two This Is the Police titles from the developer. So at least we know the port will offer fair monetization, but as far as a release date is concerned, there's no info out there, so your guess is as good as mine. At the very least, Rebel Cops is indeed coming to Android, so now it's just a waiting game until that day arrives.

Rebel Cops is available for pre-registration
Back in November 2019, the developer behind the This Is the Police series announced that its tactical spinoff title Rebel Cops would be coming to Android, though a Play Store listing and release date were missing at the time. Well, as of this morning, the game popped up on the Play Store for pre-registration, which should mean we are nearing the official launch, though we still don't know when the game will actually be released. Of course, if you'd like to receive a notification whenever Rebel Cops officially lands on Android, feel free to pre-reg through the Play Store widget at the bottom of the page.

Weappy Studios has released Rebel Cops on the Play Store
Last month (March 2020), we learned that Weappy Studios This Is The Police spinoff Rebel Cops was available for pre-registration on the Play Store, signaling that an official release would be coming soon. Well, today is the day. Rebels Cops is now available on Android for $7.99, and it's a premium release, so that means there are no in-app purchases or advertisements included.
For the most part, this is a game that plays like a lite version of X-Com, which means there's less depth to the strategic gameplay, though the game's polished presentation makes up for the simplified mechanics, especially since these simplified mechanics allow the game to remain accessible on mobile devices. Really, the only downside I can find is that many of the game's levels can take hours to work through, so it can be tough to pick up and play while on the go.
Still, if you're looking for a balance of depth and portability in a mobile turn-based strategy game, Rebel Cops hits closer to this mark than the majority of the competition.
