OnePlus is to host a 'Salute to Speed' event in Woking, UK, on December 11th in conjunction with Formula 1 team McLaren. It seems likely that we're about to see the release of a limited edition device in the same vein as Huawei's Porsche Design models.

The collaboration was announced on Twitter along with a short teaser video evoking the history of the famous British motorsport brand. There's also a landing page on the OnePlus UK site that talks up the partners' shared pursuit of speed. OnePlus marketing campaigns for the 6 and 6T have focused on rapid performance with zero lag.

Much like Huawei and Porsche, OnePlus and McLaren are apparently embarking on a " long-term technology partnership" that could span multiple devices and other joint ventures. More details will arrive on December 11th, along with a special announcement that is presumably more likely to be a McLaren-branded phone than a OnePlus-branded car, although you never know.

Ishan Agarwal on Twitter has posted images of the McLaren Edition phone. Compared to the regular OnePlus 6T, it seems have a carbon fiber back and an orange streak around the bottom and lower edges of the phone.
