Rugged phones aren't generally very exciting. They're all big, boxy things, with plastic shells meant to absorb force from drops. Kyocera's new Verizon-exclusive rugged phone, though, is... well, it's a big, boxy thing with a plastic shell. But it also has a sapphire screen and an action camera.

The very rugged-sounding DuraForce Pro 2 sports a five-inch "Sapphire Shield Display," which the company says is "virtually scratch proof." It's IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, and meets the 810G military standard for shock, temperature, and radiation resistance — so go ahead and take it on that trip to Chernobyl.

Look how dirty it can get.

The device's 3,240 mAh battery can charge both by USB-C and wirelessly, which is nice, since rugged phones have a tendency to offer the bare minimum. Like its predecessor, its got three cameras, one of which has a wide-angle lens and is touted as an action camera. There are even a couple of programmable hardware keys.

The DuraForce Pro 2 is available at Verizon now for $444.
