Jaybird is hitting it hard this year. Following the release of the X4 earbuds in September and the entry-level Tarah last month, the company is back at it with the Tarah Pro, a $159.99 pair of buds that can purportedly eke out a truly impressive 14 hours of playback on a single charge.

While it seems counterintuitive to release a pro version of an entry-level product, the new headset does seem more similar in form to the Tarah than the X4, sporting the redesigned "eargel" design that combines silicone tips and ear fins into a single piece. The cable connecting the two buds is reflective to provide added visibility during outdoor workouts, and there are magnets in the buds that can stick 'em together when they're out of your ears, pausing media playback and securing them around your neck. Like Jaybird's other releases this year, the Tarah Pro are IPX7 water resistant, meaning they can take some rain (or sweat).

But the real show here is that battery. Real-world usage generally doesn't quite stack up to manufacturer claims, but even if "14 hours" is actually 12 hours, the Tarah Pro are still an endurance monster. On top of the longevity, Jaybird says five minutes on the charger can provide two hours of playback. That's nuts. Unfortunately, they use yet another proprietary charging dongle, but if they last as long as they're supposed to, it seems like a fair trade.

The Tarah Pro are available in three colorways, as seen above: Titanium/Glacier, Mineral Blue/Jade, and Black/Flash. All three colors are expected to be available today through Jaybird's website and in retail stores sometime this month (although the Titanium model will be exclusive to Best Buy).
