After the T-Mobile US / Sprint merger talks dissolved for a second time, the magenta-themed carrier looks to be in a much stronger position to go it alone, as the company has announced a net addition of 1.9 million subscribers in Q4 2017, of which 891,000 are postpaid accounts.

T-Mobile added a total of 5.7 million subscribers for all of 2017, with 3.6 million of those being postpaid accounts. In addition to being the fourth year in a row in which T-Mobile added over 5 million new subscribers, the company claims that this marks the sixteenth quarter in a row in which it has led in customer growth, compared to the other major US mobile network operators.

Last December, the company announced plans to buy back $1.5 billion in stock through the end of 2018, of which $444 million of stock was already purchased. In addition, parent company and majority (74%) shareholder Deutsche Telekom AG is separately planning to acquire more shares of the company.
