Kohler, a maker of kitchen and bath products, seems to believe that you should never have to touch their products if at all possible. They're coming to CES with a new voice and motion-control platform so that you can get Alexa in your bathroom mirror, operate your kitchen faucet with gestures, and talk to your toilet. Not kidding!

Kohler Konnect (that's right, connect with a "K") will connect the company's hardware to Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit, enabling consumers to interact with Kohler's products through voice commands, gestures, and presets. Coming later this year, these new integrations will be managed through the Kohler Konnect app which will be available for both Android and iOS.

The first product they plan to bring to market is the Verdera Voice Lighted Mirror, which is essentially a big, flat, reflective Echo. Through voice and gesture, the LED lights can be adjusted to suit various circumstances, such as makeup application, and thanks to "speakers housed in hermetically sealed casings to maximize stereo sound quality," it looks like this mirror is intended to bring the full Echo experience to a bathroom mirror.

I trust the Alexa team is busy coming up with several Snow White mirror-mirror-on-the-wall responses as we speak. Don't worry; I'm getting to the toilet.

Kohler also promises kitchen and bath faucets that will dispense water at a dictated temperature or fill to a desired depth, and a shower system complete with voice-adjustable sprays, music, and lighting.

Okay, so about that the toilet.

Kohler's Numi toilet will, through voice and motion control (I can't wait to find out what the gestures are), offer customizable ambient lighting, Bluetooth connection for speakers, a touchless flush ("to minimize the spread of germs"), as well as foot and seat warmers.

Yes, you can speak to the digital assistant living in your toilet and tell it to play some relaxing Sade music while it warms your bum.

Smooth operator, indeed.

Kohler will be demonstrating these products at CES, with availability "later this year," though the Verdera mirror is slated to launch sometime in March.
