It's been a busy year for Samsung Pay, as the Korean company's mobile payments platform has been gradually rolled out around the globe to counter competing services from Google and Apple. It's particularly popular in India, where Samsung's MST technology is the most common at payment terminals. It launched there in March this year, and now it's gaining another handy feature: bill payments.

We heard something similar from Google earlier this month when it announced the rollout of bill payments for its India-exclusive Tez app. Not to be outdone, Samsung has now introduced the same functionality, which will no doubt help to cement its position as the number one smartphone maker in the region.

Users will be able to set up bill payments for phone (mobile and landline), gas, water, electricity, and DTH through Samsung Pay, which plugs into the NPCI’s universal Bharat Bill Payments system (BBPS). Paying bills should be seamless and secure, and you can also set up helpful reminders and easily make payments on-the-go.

If you've already got the app installed and you live in India, you should have received a notification enabling you to use the service. If not, you can grab the app from the Play Store link below, or sideload it from APKMirror.
