In the past few years, T-Mobile has been going after younger customers with offers like (480p) videos not counting towards data caps, free things every week with T-Mobile Tuesdays, and so on. But now, the magenta-themed company is going after older people, specifically those over 55 years of age, with its new ONE Unlimited 55+ plan. Surprisingly, it's a pretty good deal.

T-Mobile notes that some other carriers' "senior plans" have been fairly lackluster, namely AT&T's Senior Nation plan, which offers 200 "anytime" minutes, 500 "night & weekend" minutes, and no data. In 2017, that's embarrassingly bad - I haven't heard of any plans with limited minutes for years. Also mentioned is how carriers' pricing can increase astronomically when lines are removed, which is where ONE Unlimited 55+ comes into play.

The name and idea of this plan may sound a bit funny at first, but it's actually a pretty good deal. It doesn't really add any incentives for older consumers aside from a price cut - the standard ONE plan that costs normal customers $70/month costs just $50/month for people over 55 years of age. A $20 discount is pretty good, but the real incentive comes when you have two lines.

While normal customers will have to pony up $120/month (or $100 with the current discount), the ONE Unlimited 55+ plan will drop that price to only $60/month. Considering that's $10 less than the standard price for a single ONE line, I'd say it's fair to call it an astronomical deal. T-Mobile calls this "a new reason to get a fake ID" in its press release title; I'd have to agree.

If you are over 55 (or know someone over 55 who might want to take advantage of this deal), the new program will be instated on August 9th. At that time, the plan will be available from local stores, over the phone, and online.
