For those Barnes & Noble customers who thought the Galaxy Tab S2 NOOK 8" and the Galaxy Tab E NOOK 9.6" were too large or too expensive, there's now a smaller, cheaper Samsung NOOK tablet - the Galaxy Tab A NOOK 7".

Barnes & Noble quotes some truly monstrous specs in the press release; among these are a whopping 2MP front-facing camera, GPS, an FM radio, the not at all old Android 5.1 Lollipop, and a massive 8GB of internal storage with microSD expansion. It has access to the Google Play Store, and comes with... wait for it... Barnes & Noble's website bookmarked on the home screen.

In all seriousness, this would make a nice little tablet for reading if you're already invested in the NOOK ecosystem and also wanted to do some other stuff on the side. B&N Readouts is a new feature that offers free quick short stories tailored to specific customers every day. It also gifts a free book every month, but you'll have to wait for a new chapter every day. It's worth noting that since Readouts is part of the NOOK app, it can be accessed on any Android or iOS device. NOOK Audiobooks (pretty self-explanatory) will be available in September via an OTA update.

The Galaxy Tab E NOOK 7" is available in-store and online today for $139.99. For a limited time, if you're an existing NOOK owner, you can get it for $99.99, and if you're a Barnes & Noble customer, you'll get a free case. As with all NOOK devices, you'll get free lifetime in-store support.
