Republic Wireless unleashed a raft of new phones to go along with its new GSM network agreement recently, and now the other shoe drops. In addition to buying a phone from Republic, you can bring your own. It still has to be on the approved list, though.

Republic Wireless used to require deep firmware integration for its WiFi calling and connection handling features, but now it operates more like a traditional MVNO. That means you finally have access to better phones on Republic. The list of supported devices for the bring-your-own program are the same as the ones Republic sells.

  • Moto G4
  • Moto G4 Plus
  • Moto X Pure Edition
  • Nexus 5X by LG
  • Nexus 6P by Huawei
  • Samsung Galaxy J3
  • Samsung Galaxy S6
  • Samsung Galaxy S7
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

If you've got one of those (unlocked), you can install the Republic app in the Play Store to order a SIM. The app is used to verify your phone has been certified on the network and also to activate the SIM card when you get it. Republic is currently offering free-ish SIMs as well. You still have to pay shipping and tax, but you save the $5 they'd usually cost. This deal is valid until 9AM Eastern on August 12th (tomorrow).
