Glitch is a twin-stick shooter that takes a Reboot approach to setting - for those of you who are too young, that means it's inside a fictional computer. This one is fairly unique since it's played vertically, opposite to most twin-stick shooters, but the 2.5D graphics are interesting and the gameplay is simple but engaging. At the moment Glitch is free with no in-app purchases.
Twin stick shooter game where you play as a Virus who tries to harass a computer. Kill different enemies and powerfull bosses through many security levels. Each game is unique, complete missions, buy new weapons, shields and skills to reach your objective. Will you be able to defeat the core security system?
Dead Venture is a top-down game where you run over zombies. That's about it - there are various missions to carry out in the story mode, but it all pretty much boils down to "run over and/or shoot the zombies." Weapon and vehicle upgrades allow you to run over and shoot zombies in increasingly elaborate ways. Graphics are "voxelated" if you get my drift, and there are several modes of play. It's a free download with a single $2 in-app purchase to unlock the full story.
Battle hordes of undead, help other survivors int this offroad action driver game. The world is infected, the human race almost wiped out. Zombies roam the streets everywhere. A handful of survivors fight their way to safe haven, a military base on a far island. There is no cure, no help only you and your mounted gun.
- Play the story mode with 8 chapters.
- Smash zombies with your car, beat bosses, earn cash.
- Upgrade your car and guns and be more effective.
- Help survivors with their tasks.
- Race against time in Time Trial mode
- Test your skills and drive while you can in endless Survival mode.
- Replay the story mode and try to finish in less days
- Vibrant cartoon graphics
Polyforge is sort of a zen shooter. If that doesn't make sense, watch the video below: basically, players have to "shoot" each side of the shape that makes up the level, which requires more precise and random timing as the shapes get more complex. The game is free with a $1 IAP to banish advertising.
Forge amazing crystals in a symphony of shapes, sound and color
- Forge new shapes by striking all the sides
- Don't strike the same side twice
- Simple & Beautiful visuals
- Atmospheric & Serene sound design
- Compete for the highest level in the world
Warp Shift tasks players with navigating a series of grid-based puzzles that open up via portals, locks, sliders, and even rooms that slide around like blocks in a Rubik's Cube. The gameplay is fairly simple, but the dialogue-free story and 3D graphics flesh things out considerably. $3 gets players access to 75 levels, though in-app purchases up to $15 are present as well.
Experience beautiful visuals, challenging puzzles and intriguing sound design. Guide the little girl Faye and her magical companion through the maze-like confines of the enigmatic ancient chamber that keeps them trapped. Think ahead and alter your surroundings wisely to usher Faye back home – one swipe after another. Embark on an audio-visual voyage through time and space, never knowing where your next step will lead you.
This Space Invaders clone is called "Retro." A bit on the nose, wouldn't you say? The gameplay is timeless, but the more advanced backgrounds seem like a distraction from gameplay rather than an enhancement. The standard version is only a dollar, but there's a free option as well.
Countless invaders from space (that would be a good catchy name for such a game, right? ;)), explosive 3D environment, bonuses and the last but not the least, tough final boss. So what are you waiting for? Show them who's the real boss here. Yes, you, behind that screen. :) Might not work on Tegra 2 and similar older devices, sorry for that.
UpTap mixes elements of endless runners and platforming games where the only goal is to get higher. Different "players" - if you can use the term for simple squares and circles - have different capabilities, and each world features different obstacles. The 2D graphics are simple and appealing across 40 levels, and the game is free with IAP that goes up to about $5.
UpTap is an arcade game where the Cube is the protagonist. Help the Cube rise up to the sky in 4 different worlds.
- 4 unique themes, 40 completely different levels: Post Atomic, Industrial, Glacial Era, Meltdown
- Tons of obstacles and different game elements to avoid
- Crystals that give you unique Cube skins that change your game experience
- Lively and original music
- Global leaderboard to show off as an UpTap Champion
- More worlds and levels coming soon.
Maiden: Legacy of the Beast
This game is an officially licensed title from Iron Maiden, if the title screen didn't make that clear. Surprisingly it's not a rhythm game - it's all about a revenant fighting a bunch of semi-mythical bad guys in turn-based content. Basically you're playing album cover - specifically The Trooper - set to the band's music. It's deeper than it seems thanks to a variety of classes and bad guys, though the free-to-play setup is depressingly predictable.
Battle as Eddie across amazing worlds, inspired by Iron Maiden’s rich imagery and music. Fight legions of unrelenting enemies as you piece together the shattered remnants of Eddie’s soul, and ultimately save the universe. Eddie comes in many shapes and forms. Each guise is a part of Iron Maiden’s rich history, with a wicked set of special powers and abilities. Fans will recognize Eddie from classic albums such as Powerslave, Killers, Somewhere in Time and The Number of the Beast.
Zombie Town Story
You'd think that the world might finally be out of new stories to tell about zombies (please?), but Herocraft would beg to differ. Their latest game mixes some basic zombie apocalypse storytelling with, of all things, a hexagonal match-three puzzle game for getting supplies and weapons. Zombie battles are present, but more or less predetermined - don't download this looking for Romero-style action. IAP goes up to almost $50.
The walking dead have taken over the world. Mad scientists create horrible monsters in their secret labs. Marauders and ex-soldiers fight among the ruins of desolate cities. And the rest of humanity is simply struggling to survive. Zombie Town Story is full of adventures in a world ravaged by the zombie apocalypse. Each of the game's episodes tells its own story. The direction of the plot depends on the decisions you make along the way.
Ketchapp's latest super-simple game has you playing as a simple cube moving along a path to the left or right. Timed obstacles are the only real barrier, though some of the minimalist graphics are entertaining. Early players say it's catchy, but somewhat laggy at the moment.
Roll your cube on the path and tap at the right time to pass the obstacles without falling or being destroyed.
Ellipsis is an old-school puzzle game... sort of. The game has been designed to be open-ended, so players can go through every logic-based challenge in sight or simply fly around and check out the neon visuals in different levels. It's an interesting tack to take, certainly, though those looking for a more conventional or retro experience might be turned off. Also, it has nothing to do with the Verizon tablets of the same name. The game is $3, but there's also a free ad-supported version.
Ellipsis is an action-packed puzzle game with minimalistic, yet powerful retro styled visuals. Your finger guides a ship through a mysterious universe. Be smart and be fast to overcome the challenges of your journey. You will face countless enemies crossing your paths and a stunning universe unfolding before you. We’ve crafted a beautiful universe for you to uncover and explore at your own pace. Fly through levels, dodging and evading enemies before they have a chance to react.
Want to manage an American political campaign? For the love of God, why? If you really are that kind of a masochist, this Kongregate clicker game will allow you to simulate lobbyist bribes, back-room dealing, and delegate double-crossing by clicking until the cows come home. The art includes rather unflattering caricatures of the major players in the 2016 election, and IAP that doesn't go further than $5.
Build the best democracy that money can buy in this innovative political idle game. Enlist the help of lobbies in order to raise money for your political campaigns. However, lobbies won’t be enough to get you to the top by themselves. Recruit staffers to help generate revenue and woo endorsements from top politicians for unique and powerful bonuses.Tap your way from a lowly campaign volunteer up to the highest office in the land.
Ghostbusters™: Slime City
A new blockbuster movie just isn't a blockbuster without a mobile tie-in game. This one asks you to step into the grey jumpsuit of a Ghostbuster and get rid of some undead jerks. The basic bustin' gameplay is pretty simple, but the overworld incorporates some asynchronous multiplayer that allows you and your friends to team up with other squads to clear out the city. It's published by Activision, so $100 in-app purchases go without saying.
New York City has been overrun by paranormal activity and its up to you as a new Ghostbusters recruit to save the city and humanity as we know it. Those ghosts and demons don’t know what they’re in for. Grab your Proton Pack and build your own Ghostbusters team in Manhattan, blasting and trapping ghosts for amazing rewards. Stand strong, don’t cross the streams, and work your way to becoming the ultimate ghostbusting team.
Rock Gods Tap Tour
Here's another one of those tapper games, this time with a cartoon theme that riffs on Van Halen and other hair metal bands. The objective is to click until your fingers break, but since it's a Ubisoft game you can pay more to... click less? Isn't that like paying extra in a fighting game so you don't have to fight so much? At least the 2D graphics look cool.
Are you ROCK enough? The ancient Gods of Rock just challenged you to an EPIC Battle of the Bands. What’s your play? Is it to gather up heroes, form a super group rock band and ROCK THEIR FACES OFF? It is.?! Nice. ROCK GODS: TAP TOUR is a tapping game unlike any other. Tour the world, battle deadly monsters, unlock your ultimate power and ROCK the Gods themselves.
Captain Sabertooth Lama Rama
Captain Sabertooth is apparently a long-running Norwegian kids show in the vein of Captain Kangaroo. This licensed game includes some surprisingly literal pirate action, wherein you play one of the kids in the crew. It's a third-person action-RPG (if a somewhat tame one) for most of the time, interspersed with sailing, fishing, and combat minigames that are simplistic at best. Still, not bad for something aimed at kids. $4 with no in-app purchases.
Captain Sabertooth and the Treasure of Lama Rama is a new game in the fantastic universe of Captain Sabertooth. The Treasure of Lama Rama is the complete pirate adventure, including sailing, sea battles, sword fights, treasure hunts, obstacle courses and lots of exciting quests, representing a unique game experience for kids.
Android Police coverage: Cheetah Mobile licenses hugely popular 'Badland 2' for Android, promptly ruins it with IAPs
Cheetah Mobile is a somewhat infamous Android publisher known for bloatware, advertising that borders on offensive, and purchasing much-loved apps just to ruin them. The company is apparently not content to ruin existing Android content, so they purchased the license for the sequel to the popular atmospheric platformer Badland (released on iOS as a paid, premium game), then published the Android version and stuffed it full of in-app purchases. It could be worse - the IAP tops out at ten bucks - but the mere fact that it exists is discouraging enough to give Badland 2 a pass.
The long waited sequel to the multi-award- winning BADLAND. Witness the award-winning world of BADLAND in even more stunning beauty with levels that extend and scroll to all directions. Survive through new elements such as liquids, flamethrowers, frost, magma, water and volumetric burning light. Fall down deadly rifts, fly to any direction and race & jump along the surfaces as a rolling character on your way to safety.

This is a dating simulator, which basically means a romantic adventure game, but the implied bestiality is only the beginning of the madness. The game has a huge and enthusiastic fanbase on PC and consoles, and the mobile version is a reasonable five bucks with no IAP.
