Pathfinder Adventures

Android Police coverage: Pathfinder Adventures, A Collectible Card Game Based On The Popular RPG Universe, Lands In The Play Store For Free

The Pathfinder universe has become one of the most popular tabletop RPGs in the world - popular enough that it's spilling over into other media. Adventures is a digital game based on a card game... based on the dice and figures RPG. This version is a faithful adaptation of the card game, but if you're an RPG player who hasn't tried it out, you'll still recognize plenty of familiar characters and locations. The base game is free with IAP for cards and expansions, priced quite high but in line with their real-world counterparts. Also, it's only for tablets.

Pathfinder Adventures, the digital adaptation of Paizo Inc.'s Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, translates the world's best-selling Pathfinder Roleplaying Game into an entirely new breed of card game, where players cooperatively battle monsters and villains, and acquire new feats, items, weapons and allies.Role-players will find the game's character development very familiar. Characters have classes such as fighter, wizard, and rogue, as well as numbers that define strength, dexterity, intelligence, etc.

GANGFORT

Android Police coverage: Gangfort Is The 2D Platformer Version Of Team Fortress 2 You Never Knew You Wanted

Gangfort is Team Fortress 2 in 2D. Okay, it's not an official, licensed version of the mega-popular PC shooter, but the inspiration is written all over the place in this shooter-platformer. It's set up for open-ended online multiplayer with simplified versions of the nine classes you're familiar with. Unfortunately it's missing gamepad support (and the player numbers are depressingly low), but there are no in-app purchases or ads.

GANGFORT is an awesome action team-based shooter game sweetened with the pixel art style. Run, jump, shoot and do whatever it takes to help your team win a round. Play with your friends or random people across any mobile devices in our official servers. Available to play on WIFI and 4G/LTE(also 3G, but it's not recommended due to it's latency). Enjoy playing offline with the smart built-in bots controlled by top-notch artificial intelligence.

The LEGO ® Movie Video Game

Android Police coverage: Everything Is Awesome Now That The LEGO Movie (The Video Game) Is Available In The Play Store

The LEGO Movie came out in early 2014. The LEGO Movie Video Game (or at least the Android version of same) came out in mid-2016. Anyone see a problem with this? Aside from a general tardiness, this small-screen retelling of the hilarious movie includes the usual gaggle of playable characters and an interesting twist: only "Master Builders" from the movie can create LEGO constructs freeform. Everyone else needs to find the instructions.

Transform the ordinary into the extraordinary and experience the ultimate LEGO building adventure as the The LEGO ® Movie Video Game comes to mobile. Step into the world of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average citizen who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. Players guide him as he is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

UNCHARTED: Fortune Hunter™

Android Police coverage: Nathan Drake Makes A Mobile Debut With The Free-To-Play Uncharted: Fortune Hunter

Uncharted 4 for the PlayStation 4 will be here tomorrow, but that's not stopping Sony from bringing every possible promotional gun to bear today. That includes the first mobile game from the Indiana Jones-style action series, Fortune Hunter. This one is a pure puzzle game focusing on sequence, logic, and direction... and if it reminds you of Lara Croft GO, you're not alone. The IAP is surprisingly light and optional, and playing enough can unlock goodies for Uncharted 4.

UNCHARTED: Fortune Hunter™ is an original action-puzzle adventure following Nathan Drake's continued pursuit to uncover the long-lost treasures of history's most notorious pirates, adventurers and thieves.

● USE YOUR SMARTS to survive and solve over 200 deadly puzzle chambers.

● FOLLOW THE LEGENDS OF HISTORY across six unique adventures.

● BECOME A MASTER FORTUNE HUNTER and collect 50+ treasures hidden across four worlds.

● PARTNER WITH SULLY to maintain a continued supply of valuable smuggled loot.

● UNLOCK REWARDS and game-changing costumes to further your adventures.

Taichi Panda: Heroes

Android Police coverage: Taichi Panda: Heroes Is A Team-Based Sequel To The Popular Free-To-Play Dungeon Crawler

Taichi Panda made waves as a popular free-to-play online RPG designed from the ground up for mobile (as well as a pretty blatant rip-off of a certain Dreamworks franchise). The pseudo-sequel brings teams into the mix - each player controls a team of several mystic martial artists, allowing for a more complex, strategic approach to the dungeon-crawling gameplay. Of course it's still heavily free-to-play, but that doesn't seem to bother fans of the first game.

Journey back to a time long forgotten in a kingdom of magical mayhem and powerful panda warriors with Taichi Panda: Heroes. Collect and manage your band of legendary champions to discover exciting action and intriguing adventure in online open world RPG sensation. Hear the call and join your heroes. Travel back to the days before Taichi Panda, and discover the thriving fantasy kingdom. Explore a vast and exciting world of bandits and brawlers, mystics and maniacs, all rendered in PC quality graphics.

Battleborn Tap

Android Police coverage: 2K's New Shooter Battleborn Comes To Android As A Disappointing 2D 'Clicker' Game

Battleborn is a 2K shooter for PC and consoles, from at least some of those folks who made Borderlands. 2K is trying to get the MOBA crowd into this one (probably to get some of that sweet, sweet e-sports money), so they're promoting it on all fronts. Unfortunately the mobile tie-in game leaves a lot to be desired: it's a pretty basic "clicker" game that only shares some design assets with the full version. Oh, and it's chock full of IAP, which is pretty poor form for something that's basically an elaborate commercial.

Engage with the Battleborn universe on the go with Battleborn Tap, where players command their squad of heroes on the field of battle. Use your fingers to TAP your way to victory over waves of enemies and menacing bosses to unlock new areas while recruiting various Battleborn to join the fight. Collect and use golden shards to upgrade your Battleborn’s weapons, skills, and abilities for the best fighting chance against an increasingly difficult array of evil forces. Find gear and use it to boost your stats for added effect.

Angry Birds Action!

Android Police coverage: Angry Birds Action! Now Available To All In The Play Store

Does Angry Birds need to be reinvented? No, no it doesn't - the simple physics gameplay is what made the original games so appealing. But Sony has an Angry Birds movie slated for a summer release, so Rovio had better have something to tie in, legs and all. Angry Birds Action (get it?) takes the pull-and-release mechanic to overhead pinball-style stages, and puts in a ton of free-to-play mechanics to drive those in-app purchases. In a word: tired.

Pull, aim, action. Send the birds of the Angry Birds Movie crashing through obstacles and bouncing from wall to wall like a wrecking ball – all in the name of saving some eggs. Explore the world of The Angry Birds Movie for the first time ever in Angry Birds Action. Pinball meets anger.

Pull back and send Red and his flock of friends careening into obstacles to save the eggs and collect valuable items.

Aliens vs. Pinball

Zen Studios is back with another collection of high-end virtual pinball tables, and this time it's themed after the two-for-one Alien and Predator franchises. The first is based on the movie Aliens, specifically the show-stopping Alien Queen sequence. The second comes from the popular Alien: Isolation video game, and the third is from the entertaining (if not exactly stellar) Alien vs. Predator series of games and movies. Tables are $2 each, and if you buy them all at once you also remove advertising.

Aliens vs. Pinball combines three exciting pinball tables into one terrifying game inspired by the ALIEN franchise. Join Ellen Ripley as she confronts the Alien Queen and helps the Colonial Marines eliminate LV-426's alien infestation on the Aliens Pinball table. Help Amanda Ripley survive the dangerous halls of Sevastopol Station while evading a merciless Xenomorph on the Alien: Isolation Pinball table. Defeat Xenomorphs, rise in the ranks of Yautja society, and choose your allies wisely on the Alien vs. Predator Pinball table.

PsyCard

In PsyCard, you are a psychic who resists the temptation to conquer the world in favor of playing Minesweeper-inspired logic and memory card games. If the setup and the art style seem a little zany, know that it's made by Ludosity, those charming folks who made Ittle Dew and Card City Nights. The game includes a primary story mode and "hot potato" local multiplayer on a single device, and there are no in-app purchases.

PSYCARD is a minesweeper-like game set in a cozy cyberpunk dystopia. Use your psychic powers, and some risky luck, to determine the position of the hidden cards and become the champion.

  • story mode with 4 selectable characters
  • a mysterious dungeon crawler mode
  • 25 characters with various psychic abilities

illi

Illi is a fairly simple platformer that mixes the standard one button, auto-running setup with the planetary gravity of something like Mario Galaxy or They Need To Be Fed. The game weaves stylishly between twitchy timing and interesting logic puzzles, and it manages to avoid over-done visual styles like pixilation or silhouettes. So give it a try if you'd like something both familiar and fresh. In-app purchases are present, but top out at about $5.

illi is a polished one button platform puzzler. As the creature illi, you jump your way through a strange world where gravity follows you. Things you take for granted in your world is different here. illi travels through portals and enters barren worlds where she gathers light crystals that remain. The creature illi can bend the fabrics of the world and make gravity-defying jumps. Each new unique world introduces new mechanics, traps and obstacles, which will make each world a bigger and more difficult task than the last.

Sparkle ZERO

The Sparke series are zen-style games about microscopic creatures trying to stay alive in their environment. You wouldn't think a single-celled organism could have much of a prequel story, but these do: in Sparkle Zero, you control the very beginning of life. The game takes a few artistic liberties (you would too, if you were playing as a string of carbon molecules), but it's just as engaging and relaxing as the previous entries in the series.

Before you play Sparkle ZERO please be aware that this game contains no tutorial. You will be left to explore the world alone, learning to climb the evolutionary ladder. The blue whale is the largest living organism on Earth today and can reach a length of 33 meters. Evolution comes a long way to develop such large and powerful organisms and that evolutionary journey always starts from much smaller creatures, like those the Blue Whale now eats; which can be up to 4 tons a day.

Super Phantom Cat

Super Phantom Cat is a standard platformer (left and right buttons, no auto-running) that positively revels in its old-school sensibilities. The levels are filled with enemies that are somewhat boxy, but should remind you of the bad guys from Mario and Sonic in more ways than one. The player character can transform into various modes with extra abilities, a la Super Mario or Kirby. IAPs for power boosts and special characters are entirely optional.

When Chemist White was a small child, he was saved by Super Phantom Cat -- who then became his personal hero. Years later, Flash Cat takes Chemist White on a journey to the Phantom World; there, Chemist White discovers he can collect data shards and change into a number of characters -- including the all-powerful Super Phantom Cat :) The world of Super Phantom Cat is filled with challenges that will make any platforming fan jump for joy.

Rush Fight

Rush Fight is a super minimal brawler that's all about timing. Players can only attack to the left or right, and a never-ending progression of bad guys is always ready to take advantage of a split-second mistake. Getting more than a dozen or so hits requires a sort of rhythm, and it's far more engaging than the game's derivative visual style (or its Crossy Road-style unlock system) might suggest at first.

Get ready for super fun arcade action. Test your reflexes and break records, challenging fighters from around the world. And remember, if you stop you lose.

  • Addictive arcade game play. Fight hundreds of enemies every minute and earn prizes.
  • 5 different arenas for battle.
  • Dynamic music tracks by top musicians.
  • Modern graphics and excellent performance on most devices.
  • Compete with friends for the title of best "RushFighter".

The World of Dots

The World of Dots is a fairly straightforward puzzle game that's all about, well, connecting the dots. One or more paths needs to be made through each level, either rivers (blue) or bridges (red) or both. Clusters of four dots can be rotated by ninety degrees at a time. The game is marked as a free beta at the moment, but it still has 75 levels to play through.

The world of dots was once a world of structure. Since the ancients disappeared the dots have begun losing their order. Help rebuild the world of dots with Rubik's cube inspired puzzles. Many early adopters are enjoying The World of Dots. Try for yourself.

● Tap between 4 dots to rotate them clockwise.

● Link all the dots to complete the puzzle.

● Discover the story of the world of dots. Meet the main character and learn their secrets.

● Try to complete the puzzle with the minimum number of turns.

● Complete all 25 levels to unlock the next chapter.

● 75 challenging levels to give hours of entertainment.

● Completely free. ZERO ADS OR IN APP PURCHASES.!

Super Slam Dunk Touchdown

What do you get when you combine a bunch of only semi-related sports, aside from a disappointing Stone-Parker movie? An over-the-top sports game that has retro aesthetics, but crazy play mechanics in the style of NBA Jam. Super Slam Dunk Touchdown mixes American football, communist football (soccer), basketball, hockey, and no small amount of insanity for an ideal local 3-on-3 multiplayer game. It even supports up to 6 local players, a first for Android TV. Too bad it's only available on the SHIELD TV and SHIELD Tablet.

Super Slam Dunk Touchdown is a retro styled, local multiplayer, couch-competitive, all-sports mashup driven by a 3D physics engine. Assemble a crack squad of sports athletes and use their unique shot styles and abilities to score goal units and demolish the opposing team. American football players tackle, soccer players steal, roller derby players skate and everybody dunks. Battle for control of baseballs, basketballs, bowling balls, tennis balls, and more.

Red Comrades Save the Galaxy

Android has no shortage of point-and-click adventures to play through, but if you're tired of the artsy, realistic kind, give this one a try. Red Comrades Save the Galaxy is an irreverent sci-fi comedy in the vein of Mom and Dad Save the World. The game has been given a surprisingly vibrant makeover for its latest release - the original 1998 version was a bit less cartoony. It's also a really good deal at under two bucks.

Red Comrades Save the Galaxy is an updated version of one of the best Russian comic adventure games, it was released back in 1998 and earned a truly nationwide love. The updated game retains the atmosphere of the original, but now with full smartphones and tablets support . In addition, all locations were manually redrawn for widescreen and more convenient control was added as well.

Journey of 1000 Stars

This is a basic platformer with a basic premise: jump around on the bouncy clouds and grab "stars." As you progress computer-controlled players will pop in, slowly wearing out all the available jumping platforms until your inevitable demise. The developer isn't shy about the difficulty, either: though the goal is to collect 1000 stars, no player has yet managed much more than 100.

Journey of 1000 Stars is essential arcade zen. Bounce on clouds, collect stars, and don't fall down. Collect your companions as you approach 50 stars, then your journey truly begins. In the tradition of arcade classics there is no difficulty curve. After 50 stars the game doesn't get any harder, it just stays hard. Scale this cliff then pick your way carefully along its edge toward 1000. Stay calm. Stay attentive. Stay alive.

Swapperoo

The objective of Swapperoo is simply to clear the board, using the arrow tile to move around and create lines of three color-matched squares. It sounds simple, but the stages have a move limit and they throw more and more obstacles and variables at the player as the game progresses. The game is $1 for a limited time.

Swapperoo - The friendly puzzle game intent on your defeat. The rules are simple: tap an arrow to move it in the direction it faces. Make a row of 3 tiles of the same color and the tiles disappear. If that sounds too easy, don't worry - you'll find yourself in situations that require clever manipulation of the game board. There's an assortment of objectives to keep you on your toes: tiles that chase you, tiles that must be matched within a few moves (skulls.), tiles that must be protected, and lots more.

Agent Gumball

The latest of Cartoon Network's branded games for the Play Store is from The Amazing World of Gumball. I can't say I'm familiar with the show, but the game is a tongue-in-cheek version of the old top-down Metal Gear titles. It's stealth-based and also turn-based, but turns are unlimited - the fuzzy blue player-character marches through the enemy stronghold and tries to avoid the sight lines of the enemy while looting the place. Like most Cartoon Network games, there are no ads or in-app purchases.

Someone’s been spying on Gumball. What the what?! Two can play at that game in Agent Gumball. Sneak past enemy patrols to collect secrets, plant bugs, take down targets, and rescue missing agents. Which spy will you choose? Swap between agents Gumball, Darwin, Anais, and Penny. Bust out your spy gadgets to get the upper hand in battle. Charge up with the Power Belt. Hack the system with the Tech Watch. And slip into stealth mode with the Spy Glasses.

Dino Bash - Dinos v Cavemen

Dino Dash is a pretty basic one-side-versus-the-other game: you send out new members of your dinosaur army and hope they can best the club-swinging cavemen. The gameplay isn't exactly groundbreaking, but the real draw here is the 2D art: those colorful, high-resolution cartoon dinosaurs are unique and entirely awesome. They might be stuck in a free-to-play grindfest, but they're so pretty that I don't care.

The dinosaurs and their egg are under attack by hungry cavemen and only you can save them in this action-packed defense game. Join the Jurassic battle. Lead the dinosaurs in a Jurassic tug-of-war battle against primitive humans to defend your egg from their merciless appetite. Build ground defenses, deploy aerial attacks, and summon dinosaurs to avoid extinction. Unleash an army of T-Rex, Triceratops, Raptors, and more savage dinosaurs and defend your precious egg from hungry, hungry cavemen.

The Aetherlight

The Aetherilight is a game that doesn't easily fit into a specific genre, so let's call it "action-adventure." You guide your player-character through a top-down world, beating enemies and solving puzzles with console-style controls and some pretty decent graphics. There's an interesting crafting element and online co-op gameplay, but be aware, this is a Christian-themed kid's game (something that isn't mentioned in the Play Store copy).

Explore the world of Aethasia™, and join the Resistance in their fight against the tyrannical emperor and his army of mechanical men. Once a beautiful land, Aethasia is now covered by a sickly pervasive fog that corrupts everything it touches. But all is not lost. Rumors are spreading of a fledgling Resistance, who have the courage and audacity to try and restore Aethasia to its former glory, and to reinstate the The Great Engineer back to the throne of Aethasia.

Tap Knight and the Dark Castle

Tap Knight looks like a retro platformer on first glance, but it's actually one of those tap games in disguise. Tapping faster and faster lets you progress through the near-infinite stage until something stronger comes along. You resurrect with any money and loot you've collected to start all over again. It's a basic setup, but it's a little more interesting than the usual "clicker" game, and there's a bit of charm to the janky movement.

Tap Knight and the Dark Castle follows the event after Tales of Clicker Knights RPG. As the Princess is safely rescued from the monsters, the Royal Scouts found the source of these abominations in the Dark Castle. The King quickly sends forth an expedition to defeat the monsters and destroy evil once and for all. With such a daunting task, an angel descends to lend a hand to the brave knight that would venture forth to the Dark Castle...

Hungry Shark World

Hungry Shark is a surprisingly popular casual game - it's available on all sorts of platforms, and the Evolution version of the game is one of the most popular titles on Android TV (of an admittedly limited field). The latest iteration is published by UbiSoft, and it adds new sharks, shiny new graphics, and gigantic opponents like whales and orcas. Alas, the free-to-play elements are intact, so getting the really cool sharks to control in the 2D stages requires a huge amount of grinding or a considerable IAP investment.

The stunning sequel to Hungry Shark™ Evolution is here. The Sharks are back, and this time they are taking on the entire WORLD. Take control of a very Hungry Shark in this action packed aquatic adventure. Survive as long as possible by eating everything that gets in your way. FGOL boasts over 285 million downloads for the number one shark arcade series on mobile, guaranteeing you the best simulated aquatic feed frenzy out there.

Amir Khan Khanage

We've seen a few of these sports games based on real-life athletes. Usually they amount to little more than a vanity project and a hopeful cash-in. As a boxing game, Amir Khan Khanage (ugh) looks more elaborate than most of its ilk, but strangely, Amir is the only boxer in the roster without a gigantic Punch-Out!-style head. Gameplay is decidedly arcade-style with taps and swipes driving the action. IAP is present, but limited to $20 or so, which shows more restraint than you might expect. Multiplayer is limited to online leaderboards.

Amir Khan Khanage is a brand new boxing arcade game designed for Amir Khan fans and general boxing fans alike. Play as Britain’s most exciting fighter in this new mobile game app that tests your reflexes and boxing technique. Amir ‘King’ Khan is on a quest to become the greatest boxer on the planet but the current champions are cowering behind their armies of droids, afraid to accept Khan's challenge. Your job is to smash through these droids to get to the phoney champions and put Khan in his rightful place as the Undisputed Champion of the Universe.

TapDJ™ EDM

TapDJ is another in a long line of tap-in-time rhythm games. There's nothing particularly interesting or innovative about its Guitar Hero-style setup (especially without physical buttons), but for fans of the very specific Electronic Dance Music subgenre, it might be pleasantly distracting. Or not - I don't know this genre well enough to recognize any of the artists who lent their songs to the game. The game is free, but in-app purchases for licensed music go up to $13.

Fun and highly addictive EDM rhythm game that everyone can play.

  • Awesome 3D graphics and visual effects
  • Free music from international DnB DJ/producer, John B and others
  • Easy, medium and hard difficulty settings help you become a superstar DJ
  • Challenge your Facebook friends
  • Collect and buy famous EDM albums
  • Free daily login rewards

Tome of the Sun

Tome of the Sun is a top-down action-RPG with a visual style that borrows more than a little bit from Square-Enix's portable remakes of the Final Fantasy series. But none of those old FF games had real-time combat with a focus on online PVP and co-op. Graphics are bright and appealing, and it looks like the various stat systems are quite complex, but with IAP up to $100, penny-pinchers need not apply to online competitive modes.

The Tome of the Sun that once kept the Shadow World in check has been fragmented and lost. Lead immortal heroes and mighty battle pets on an epic quest to reclaim the Tome of the Sun and restore harmony across the Sun Kingdom. But beware, its contents are coveted by malevolent sorcerers and demons at every twist and turn. Fast-paced combat, generous rewards, and virtually endless gameplay, Tome of the Sun rewrites the book on adventure.

Spellbinders

Spellbinders is a lane-based tower defense game with a vague Grecian fantasy theme. The gameplay elements are fairly basic, and nothing you haven't seen before: two players face off on opposite sides of three lanes, sending creatures out to do direct battle and upgrading towers for hardened defense points. The game has aspirations of MOBA-hood, but the champions are really too limited. At least they got the IAP right.... it goes up to $100, just like the real thing.

For eons, the Titans have fought for fame, glory, and bragging rights in an eternal struggle. As a Spellbinder, YOU control the battlefield. Choose a Titan, command an army of fearless minions and dust off your favorite spell book. Awaken powerful Ancient units from their slumber to tip the scales of war. Devise the perfect strategy and lay siege to your opponent’s base. The lines are drawn, the cannons are loaded and the battle has begun. Lead your Titan to victory - by any spells necessary.

Olympus Rising

Two Greek mythology-based tower games in one week? Were they having a sale on Medusa models or something? This one takes a much more serious approach to it with an art style that recalls Clash of the Titans, but the gameplay setup is more like Clash of Clans (right down to the multiplayer clan focus) with hero units. Predictably, it's stuffed to the gills with IAP.

Join the epic battle for Mount Olympus and unleash the power of the Gods. Conquer distant lands with an army of heroes and monsters, build an impenetrable base to keep rival players at bay, and proclaim your glory across the world in this breathtaking, addictive action MMO.

• Command epic armies and conquer countless island empires

• Summon mythical creatures and defend Mount Olympus

• Turn the mountain of the gods into your own impervious fortress

• Expand your territory in a world where greater risks bring greater rewards

• Harness your hero’s unique abilities and tailor your strategy

• Build a spectacular acropolis to showcase your glory

• See the grandeur of the gods come to life thanks to stunning 3D graphics
