There are many ways to go about building your own smart home. The easy approach is to buy a hub and look for products that are compatible. Logitech makes one of those hubs.

If you've embraced the Logitech Harmony approach to controlling your home, you now have one more way to manage everything. Logitech has released an Android TV app into the Play Store.

This piece of software is in beta, but it provides a tile-based way to turn on speakers, toggle lights, raise blinds, adjust the thermostats, and perform other tasks. It's compatible with any Harmony hub remote.

The Play Store app is compatible with the Nexus Player and ADT-1, but it does not yet support the NVIDIA SHIELD TV. Since this qualifies as an inconvenience, here's the APK.

The APK is signed by Google and upgrades your existing app. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Rather than wait for Google to push this download to your devices, which can take days, download and install it just like any other APK.
