Smartphones do many things, but underpinning most of what makes these phones smart is an Internet connection. Struggling to connect to Wi-Fi makes a phone significantly less intelligent.

Some Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners have had trouble maintaining an Internet connection. Others have had a difficult time establishing a connection in the first place.

To address this, Verizon Wireless is pushing out an over-the-air update to both devices. The version number is MMB29M.G930VVRU2APB5.

Hopefully this also fixes an issue dealing with phones losing cellular data after removing and reinserting a SIM card, gaining it back only after performing a factory reset. This being Verizon, popping out the SIM card isn't something that happens often, but having to wipe a device afterward is a bit much.

What's New:

This software update improves Wi-Fi connectivity on Marshmallow OS, and fixes issues including:

  • Trouble connecting to the internet
  • Frequent data disconnections
  • Problems while loading files or web pages
