While online sales of the HTC One A9, including carrier pre-orders, have been going on some time now, today it is now in actual, physical stores. AT&T and Sprint ones.

Pre-orders should begin shipping today for carrier variants and unlocked devices alike, too. But if you want to see a One A9 in person - and it's a pretty good phone - you can now do that, at least in America. There's no word on when T-Mobile's version is coming, exactly. The unlocked edition of the phone will get Verizon compatibility at a later date.

Edit: This article previously stated that there would be a T-Mobile A9. That is not the case - HTC's online store merely has a carrier picker so that they know which device to send you (there is a Sprint unlocked version and an ATT/T-Mo unlocked version, apparently). Here's what HTC had to say:

We are only selling unlocked devices on HTC.com (you select which carrier you are with to ensure we ship a compatible version).

Of course, you'd have to be a monumental cheapskate to buy from either AT&T or Sprint directly, because their prices on the A9 are absurd. AT&T wants $520, which is $20 more than what HTC's full retail price will be when the $399 promo period ends. That's bad enough. But Sprint? Oh boy. Sprint lists the full price of the One A9 as $696.

Sprint, I say this because it's for you own good: get bent. This is a $400 phone. You are placing a nearly 75% markup on it. Sprint published this price back on the 20th when the One A9 was announced, but it didn't get nearly the level of attention for the sheer, unbridled stupidity that it deserved. So I thought I'd point it out.

And here's the A9 availability press release, below.
