Raywar: Pandemonium

Android Police coverage: Raywar: Pandemonium Is A Twin Stick Shooter That Does Its Very Best To Make Your Eyeballs Explode

Raywar: Pandemonium is a standard top-down, twin-stick shooter in the style of Geometry Wars. It's also completely over the top: though the graphics are decidedly retro, the lighting effects and explosions are absolutely seizure-inducing (in a fun way). There are also some interesting additions to the twin-stick formula, like the way the game automatically pauses when you take your fingers off the touch controls. External controller support, local multiplayer, and Android TV compatibility are all included.

ETERNITY WARRIORS 4

Android Police coverage: Free-To-Play Action RPG Eternity Warriors 4 Is Live In The Play Store

The fourth entry in Glu's Eternity Warriors series of dungeon crawlers keeps the basic three-class RPG setup, but dials the graphics up to eleven. It's primarily a player-versus-environment affair, either alone or online with a group, but you can also jump into the arena mode if you'd like to duke it out against other humans. The freemium model should appeal to players who simply want to grind for the best loot possible, but competitive players will have to spend some money to reach the top ranks.

Crush enemies and become a hero in Eternity Warriors 4, the latest addition to the hit RPG series. Hack through enemies as the mighty Warrior, slash them with the lightning-fast Assassin or rain down fire upon them as the unstoppable Mage. FIFA 16 Ultimate Team

Android Police coverage: FIFA 16 Ultimate Team Is Now Available On Android, But Device Compatibility Is Strange

FIFA's back for another go-round, this time with better skill moves, improved controls, more challenging AI players, and better animations, at least according to the Play Store description. The team builder includes over 10,000 players from more than 500 teams (but none of the women's leagues so prominently featured in the console version). It's a freemium game with the usual in-app purchases, but the compatibility seems a bit odd. It's a high-end title, so maybe EA is trying to keep players with older hardware from installing it.

Play beautiful with a newer, better, and faster FIFA experience on mobile. FIFA 16 Ultimate Team lets you celebrate every awesome attack, nail-biting goal, and powerful win like never before with console-like graphics. Experience the most realistic set of football features on Google Play. Get ready for better skill moves, more exciting goals, more responsive controls, smarter teammates, and improved animations as you play the match.

Disney Infinity: Toy Box 3.0

Android Police coverage: Disney Infinity Toy Box 3.0 Arrives On Android, And This Time You Can Play With Star Wars Characters

Disney Infinity is back for another round on consoles, this time with the benefit of Disney's acquisition of Lucasarts and all the most popular Star Wars characters you can shake a lightsaber at. This mobile version of the game doesn't include all of the goodies of the more expensive console games - you can play with the Toy Box creations you or your friends have made and take part in a few challenges, but that's it. Of course you'll need to buy the plastic toys to permanently unlock characters.

Create your own universe in the Toy Box. Great Characters. Great Adventures. JOIN FORCES. Imagine a wide-open world of possibilities where all the characters, vehicles and settings you’ve collected can come together in whatever way you want them to. Create your own game universe where you can make anything happen. Mix, match and mash-up Star Wars™, MARVEL, Disney and Disney•Pixar characters together in one place.

Chariot

Android Police coverage: Quirky Co-op Platformer Chariot Comes To The Google Play Store As Another SHIELD TV Exclusive

The latest SHIELD TV exclusive comes from Frima Studio, which you might recognize from the Nun Attack series. Chariot is a PC and console port of a platformer wherein you guide a dead king's coffin through a series of beautiful levels and try to resist smacking his ghost. The platforming action focuses more on physics puzzles than twitchy reaction times, but the best part is that you can bring a friend along for some co-op fun if you have an extra controller.

Chariot is a humorous, physics-based couch co-op platformer optimized for the NVIDIA SHIELD in which a brave Princess and her Fiancé carry a funeral wagon through ancient caves, fending off swarms of looters while amassing riches, to bury the King's remains in a worthy, gold-filled tomb. If only his majesty would keep quiet... The chariot's large wheels and long tethers allow the heroes to reach higher ground, swing across chasms and perform all sorts of impressive maneuvers.

Just Cause 3: WingSuit Tour

Android Police coverage: Just Cause 3: Wingsuit Tour Lets You Ride Along With Rico In Virtual Reality

Just Cause 3 is the most-anticipated console/PC game for connoisseurs of the Blow Stuff Up Real Good genre. You can't play it on Android, more's the pity, but you can get a neat preview of some of the flying sections with this free VR app. Protagonist Rico's wingsuit is probably the best new section of the game, so it's fun to watch. Google Cardboard VR is supported, but if you don't have one you can go full screen instead.

Download the Just Cause 3 - WingSuit Experience for free now and explore the beautiful Mediterranean islands of Medici from the skies, and in complete 360 degrees. Look around the world by moving your phone to view in any direction - it's that simple.

NBA LIVE Companion

Android Police coverage: EA Releases A Companion App For NBA Live That Lets You Stick Your Face On A Pro Basketball Player

This isn't so much a game as a self-insertion tool. Take a selfie, customize your hair and beard (or not), and transfer it over to NBA Live 2016, and you can see yourself playing in the big leagues. You won't get the fame, the money, or the legions of fans, but maybe you can get a little bit of the fun.

Play with you, as you, with unprecedented quality. Exclusive to NBA LIVE 16, GameFace HD allows you to scan your face using your mobile device to create a high-definition 3D model to use on your created player in game. Now for the first time, the same cutting-edge technology used to process and scan NBA players is available to you.

HoPiKo

HoPiKo is a platformer that abandons such things as precision or exploration for pure speed. A single tap will advance you to the next platform, but a variety of obstacles will smash your player character into pixelated bits. Some unique art direction and thumping music help you stay in the mood. There's a story behind it all in a Tron sort of way, but the visuals and the twitch gameplay are what you're really spending your $4 on.

The evil Nanobyte virus is out, gaming is over... It’s time to hook up your power gloves and save your HoPiKo brothers. HoPiKo is an intense speed run platformer where you get to save gaming. Jump from platform to platform avoiding death, exploiting shortcuts and ripping through 100s of hand-crafted levels, each one dropped into a 5-stage mini run designed to break your mind.

Astro Party

Astro Party is a mix of classic, super-simple elements from Asteroids and a four-player local party game setup. Each player controls a single ship with two corner buttons, steering and shooting to kill the other players, avoid obstacles and turrets, and grab power-ups. Obviously it's best with a tablet (and a big tablet at that, unless you're really close to the other players), but the madness that ensues if you can get four players together is worth a little shoulder-bumping.

Astro party is the ultimate casual party game. Up to four players can play this game on one device. Control the hilarious spaceships in a competitive deathmatch.

  • Two button controls
  • Three game modes
  • YOUR SHIP A SPLODE

Beacon 38

In Beacon 38, you're tasked with exploring a trippy space-based environment with nothing but sonar. The use of "sound waves" to navigate and identify the stages makes the core mechanic quite unique, and the art style of the levels and enemies is an interesting mix of science fiction and macabre. There's a story to explore while you're poking around the 2D world, and your ticket will cost a reasonable $3 with no in-app purchases.

Beacon 38 is a mobile exploration game where you use sonar to navigate through a dangerous, beautiful alien world that constantly surprises and challenges. See if you can navigate your tiny scout ship past massive predators, mysterious creatures, and unknown peril to escape the 38th Dimension. Using the core mechanics of sonar pinging and navigation, you make your way through an ever changing, evocative ecosystem that must be understood to be overcome.

Blast Force

Blast Force is a runner game that's all about the guns. There's a bit of basic platforming to be had as well, but you can actually slow your descent (and help you get a bead on the enemy). Huge power-ups and a variety of weapons keep things fresh, and the simple graphics are both charming and effective. The whole experience reminds me of Broforce (with just a little less testosterone). The game costs just under two bucks with no in-app purchases.

Blast through 30+ levels of shoot’em up / arcade platforming gameplay. Test your reflexes, avoid obstacles and take aim at the corrupted machines of the Blasttopia INC. factory. You will run, jump and shoot your way to the evil mainframe and you will encounter many challenging enemies along the way. Do you have what it takes to save mankind from a robotic revolution?

Rugby Nations 16

Sports fans love an underdog win, so I imagine that there's a worldwide uptick in interest for rugby at the moment. (If you're an American, rugby is like football, but with fewer pads and more crumpets.) The latest version of Rugby Nations manages to out-class most competition for other major sports (lookin' at you, EA) by offering a single $5 unlock for all features. Real international teams, a season manager mode, and decent graphics are in the game's favor, but a lack of multiplayer options is not.

Celebrate the World Cup in style with the most realistic Rugby game on mobile - Rugby Nations 16. Live events and fantastic new gameplay will get you into the celebratory spirit just in time for the biggest Rugby event this year. Brand new TOUCH CONTROLS will allow you to play Rugby like never before on mobile, easy to use for even the newest of players. Optimized Phoenix™ technology drives fantastic 3D visuals, enhanced gameplay and slick animations to deliver the most atmospheric Rugby experience on Google Play.

Hypersurf

Hypersurf is a fast-paced and possibly seizure-inducing tunnel runner with a focus on timing and shooting. The 3D graphics are more ambitious than most similar games, and a wide collection of power-ups and playable characters (from the Fat Baby franchise) to keep things interesting. You'll need sharp eyes and fast reaction times to get very far. Hypersurf is free with a single $1 in-app purchase to permanently unlock individual characters.

Blast your way through alien infested intergalactic wormholes. Featuring innovative gameplay: 360 degree wormhole surfing, Hypersurf is easy to play but difficult to master - a lightning speed hyperkinetic action, demolition rollercoaster.

  • 20+ PLAYABLE CHARACTERS including the space gladiator and cowboy
  • Gain SPECIAL ABILITIES such as new weapons, shields, and more
  • Insane 3D EFFECTS and high-speed ACTION
  • Dozens of randomly generated enemies, obstacles, and environments
  • Compete in global leaderboards for respect

Rage Quit Racer

Here's a similar tunnel-style running game, but this one focuses on multiplayer racing instead of shooting. It's also squarely situated on the "masochistic" end of the difficulty spectrum, which comes partly from its cumulative increasing speed and partly from a tilt-only control scheme. The game's a bit on the simple side with a first-person viewpoint and basic 3D graphics, but no less entertaining for that. Free with no in-app purchases.

Fun and addicting game featuring extreme speed single and online multiplayer rage quit racing. Rage quit alone or rage quit against friends and family via online multiplayer games. That's right with eyes twitching, shout, scream and anger all those around you when you discover that this game will smash you to bits. Have more need for speed? Then use the nitro boost, but carefully or you're dead in the water.

Sky

Sky is another super-simple Ketchapp game that's all about the timing. Singe or double-tap to get your block over variable obstacles, and your block doubles whenever you pass one of the green tents. The graphics are simple and appealing, matching the minimalist music to put this one somewhere in the "zen" category. The game is free with some rather heavy-handed advertising, but a single $2 in-app purchase removes them.

Fly, Jump and Clone yourself into a fantastic adventure with SKY. In this new game developed by the same team behind Phases and The Line Zen, you're in control of multiple characters as they run through a 3D mystical world filled with trouble. While playing, you'll be jumping over obstacles and attempting to beat your top score. Watch out, because sometimes things aren't quite what they seem... When you enter into the green huts your character will clone. .

The Ascension

The Ascension is a minimalist jumper game with a new spin. (Get it? I'm sorry.) Instead of moving your character left or right with a tilt of our phone, a tap revolves the hexagonal playing field, so perfect timing gets you one level higher by removing a one-use-only jump pad. Get as high as you can on the scrolling screen and grab some extra points if you can - that's about it. Like Sky, The Ascension is free with a small in-app purchase to remove ads.

Ascend as high as you can. Tap to rotate the platforms and allow your bouncing ball to reach higher grounds while collecting valuable pyramids. Beware though, speed increases and platforms disappear... Will you make it to the top?

HALOS: React and Match

Halos is a twitch game that couldn't be simpler: watch the balls as they fall and swipe to the left or right to match them up to their corresponding targets. Like most similar minimal games it features a thumping techno soundtrack and some bright, easy-to-see colors. There's not much to it aside from the core reflex-straining mechanic, but it's free with no in-app purchases.

The mesmerizing react-and-match game that lets you jump in & zone out. What’s all the fuss about? Halos is an addictively simple and fast-paced matching game. If you love Match-3 games but are looking for something a little more zen, yet still challenging, this is the game for you. Your challenge is to slide each falling Halo toward its matching ring before it shatters.

Champ Man 16

Square Enix is back with yet another soccer manager... wait, didn't they already release a Championship Manager earlier in 2015? Indeed, "Championship Manager: All-Stars" was released last month. Apparently that was the multiplayer version of the game, and this one... isn't. So if you enjoy playing against the computer, selecting from hundreds of pro soccer teams, and paying lots of in-app purchases to get through the grind, have a go.

The world famous Football Management game just received a major upgrade, with tens of thousands of real players available to sign and over 450 clubs from 25 playable leagues to manage – it’s time to LIVE THE DREAM and take control of your club.

Nurture and develop your players, design training programmes for the team or target individuals for specific work, choose formations, give tactical instruction and then watch how all of this affects your overall team performance on match day...

PewDiePie: Legend of Brofist

PewDiePie is a man who plays video games on YouTube, makes funny noises, and gets paid quite a lot of money. It seems somewhat unlikely that he and his fellow Let's Play web celebrities actually created this basic 2D platformer, but they do contribute their voice "talents" and a metric ton of pixelated memes to its production. It's expensive at $5, but at least it doesn't have any in-app purchases.

Join your favorite YouTubers on an Epic Quest in PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist. Enjoy this amazing 2D platformer in the palm of your hands.

  • COLLECT BROCOINS to buy new CHARACTERS, ATTACKS and DEFENSES.

Truck Simulator PRO 2016

Most of the entries in the Boring Job Simulator 2015 genre seem to be targeted at European players, including cargo truck simulators. If you prefer to get your kicks on Route 66, then this version focuses on American roads and 18-wheeler trucks. It's a dedicated simulator, not an arcade racer, so don't expect to plow satisfyingly through traffic without getting points taken off of your license. You'll also have to calculate fuel efficiency, cargo capacity and value, and all sorts of other stuff. Have... fun?

Start the engine and feel the power of huge trucks while driving through US cities and roads in this advanced truck simulator. Build and expand your transporting empire by unlocking new trucks, hiring other drivers and exploring new cities. Avoid collisions and speeding tickets, keep track of the fuel consumption and fatigue in order to always deliver your cargo on time. Push your endurance, skills and speed to the limit and become the best trucker - the king of the US roads.

Skeletomb

Skeletomb is another in a long, long line of retro-inspired roguelike RPGs. This one isn't 2D, it just looks like it thanks to some clever voxel graphics, and the music will be a plus to anyone who's a fan of chiptunes. Beyond that you get some expansive levels, a variety of classes, and some respectable real-time, grid-based combat. It includes support for external gamepads, and at the moment, it's free with no in-app purchases.

Choose from many unlikely heroes and pit them against the elements. Test their endurance on an Endless journey, or send them on a quirky little Adventure.

• A menagerie of customizable heroes to play as.

• Retro styled worlds that change with each playthrough.

• Adventure and Endless Modes

• Unique music designed in the spirit of old adventure games.

• Instant Replays: Share an amazing maneuver or an untimely demise as an animated GIF.

• Gamepad support.

• Leaderboards: Compete with friends on pure arcade style scores.

• Achievements: Show off your progress and ingenuity.

• Cloud Saves: Bring your rescued heroes and heart containers to all your devices.

Litron

Litron is a retro game that borrows elements of Snake, Breakout, Tetris, and a few other classics in service of some good old-fashioned nostalgia. The only objective is to get your snake to the light, but each themed stage includes new terrain and new obstacles. Litron practically delights in its low-fi aesthetics, but I must admit some of the CRT effects are quite fetching. The game is free with IAP for currency and power-ups, but everything can be unlocked for under $3.

Find the light. Test your wit and reflexes in the most retro experience of the decade. Inspired by Snake, Tron and 99 Problems, LITRON will tease your brain and leave you hungry for more. Find your way through 60 twisted and mind-boggling levels and find the light. Be patient, be smart, be precise. Rules change across levels, so stay focused. Lose yourself in the wonderful visual style of the 80s and mesmerizing retro tunes. Travel back in time to the golden era of arcade awesomeness with LITRON.

Lost Qubixle Free

Lost Qubixle is a hard-to-pronounce mix of puzzle and construction elements. Your only goal is to create the three-dimensional shape you're given the pattern for, with views corresponding to the X, Y, and Z axes. It's harder than it looks - you'll need solid spatial awareness to get through the toughest of 45 levels. The standard version is free.

The Lost Qubixle is a perspective puzzle game. Your task is to reconstruct a figure from three perspectives. This game requires that you use your perception skills and that you make the best use of your logical thinking. Overcome the barriers of your perception and improve your logical thinking by solving mind-blowing puzzles. Do you ever asked yourself what happens when a star collapses? The Qubixle is a cube-shaped star which collapsed suddenly.

OMFQ - Life of Poi

Here's an endless runner that seems to star those little papercraft cutouts you see all over the web. It's pretty basic with left-or-right taps to proceed and only a few obstacles and power-ups, so the appeal seems to be a wide variety of characters and themes that can be unlocked by playing or paying. Each one costs a single dollar, a la Crossy Road, if you're not patient enough to get them via random chance.

Enter the life of Poi Goodson, a harmless little boy raised in a conservative household abiding to traditional ways of life and behaviours. The stark contrast and irony is that, Poi happens to be a resident of Hipsville, a city that prides itself in being the premier example of keeping up with time. Citizens of Hipsville are overzealous in their pursuit of the latest trends. Everything from fashion, technology, to even dog foods. You name it, they crave it.

Shut the Fail Up

This is a masochistically hard game with puzzles and quizzes. And unlike some of the games you might be familiar with, the solution to said puzzles and quizzes might not make sense. Shut The Fail Up uses an intentionally bad art style, probably to further aggravate frustrated players. If you're a fan of Strongbad-style humor, this might appeal to you. A single $1 in-app purchase gets you extra lives.

TRY. FAIL. REPEAT. Shut the Fail Up is a really, really hard quiz game. You might almost say it’s impossible. Honestly, Shut the Fail Up will troll you SO HARD you may as well start raging about it now. Up for the challenge? Then get ready for obscure trivia, bewildering optical illusions, and weird stuff made up by a sweaty-toothed madman. Please take a deep breath and remain calm. It’s just a game. (Or IS it?)

Downton Abbey: The Game

Downton Abbey has a game? The stiff BBC drama about a bunch of pre-WWI rich people and their servants? Apparently so. The official licensed title is developed by Activision and takes the form of a mystery/hidden object game, but fans who are obsessed with the series and its titular manor might find some interesting in-universe tidbits. There's a social element and (of course) in-app purchases, but at least it's free.

For the first time ever the exquisite settings and captivating characters of the hit TV show, Downton Abbey, come to life in its first interactive gaming experience. It was one of the most exciting days of the year for everyone living and working at Downton Abbey. The day of the village fete had arrived and everyone joined in the day’s festivities. A great time was had by all, however upon returning to the Abbey it was quickly discovered that all was not well... The house had been ransacked.

Spellstone

Spellstone is a fantasy card battler from online flash game publisher Kongregate. It has some interesting backstory to make up the lore and some very nice 2D art, plus it includes strong collection and online multiplayer elements. But like most collectable card games on the Play Store, it includes a ton of in-app purchases, so prepare to get your fantasy-themed tuckus handed to you online if you're not willing to spend some dough.

Spellstone is a fantasy card game with beautiful hand-drawn art and rich lore. Collect hundreds of striking cards to battle through a compelling story to unravel the mystery of the Void. Capture Spellstones to unleash ancient and powerful creatures. However, there is dark magic at work on the island. Will you become a Hero or be consumed by the Void? Heroes, creatures, monsters, demons, animals, and more are brought to life with a stunning hand-painted style.

Sundown: Boogie Frights

This Chillingo title is a base builder about killing zombies, as about half of them seem to be. The difference is that this one takes place circa 1978, so all the human characters and all the zombies have a bit of groove inserted into their design. Elements of tower defense are included as you might suspect, but since this is technically an EA game and it's packed with in-app purchases, expect to hit a grind wall at some point.

Steal from the living, defend from the dead. It’s the summer of 1978 and the zombie outbreak is in full swing. Get ready to bomb some zombies to oblivion as you defend the town of Somewhere, New Mexico. Send tough guy, Jimmy, out on rescue missions to find other survivors. Raise your own army of specialized zombies to help Roxy loot nearby towns. Can you keep your town safe as the Mayor races to find a cure for the outbreak?

DEER HUNTER 2016

PAW Patrol Pups to the Rescue

This app is designed to appeal to kids with sickeningly cute puppies dressed as various types of rescue personnel. The title has a variety of activity center-type minigames and some impressive 3D graphics (for a kid's game, anyway) and includes a special section for parents to check in on their kids' progress. Pups to the Rescue is $5 but includes no in-app purchases, which is what we always like to see for apps intended for children.

Go on a rescue road trip with all your favorite pups in the new app: PAW Patrol Pups to the Rescue. With the new Paw Patroller vehicle, the pups can now save the day in places way beyond Adventure Bay. Your child will keep an eye out for rescue alerts, then go on rescue missions to the Bay, the Ice Fields, and Yumi’s Farm. There are different rescues for each of the seven pups with a variety of fun mechanics, including swipe, tap, tilt, and drawing circles.

Explore Daniel's Neighborhood

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is a PBS kids show loosely tied to the old Mister Roger's Neighborhood series (rest in peace, Fred). This particular game is sort of a take on Animal Crossing: a small village full of places to explore and a bunch of mini-games. It's $3 with no ads or in-app purchases, always nice to see in a kid's app, but early reviews of the Android version seem to indicate that it has a lot of bugs at present.

Has your child ever wanted to visit Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood? With this new app, the neighborhood is at your fingertips. Explore Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood encourages open-ended, imaginative play as children visit familiar places and create stories about their friend Daniel Tiger. It’s like playing in a digital dollhouse where you can turn the lights on and off, open and close doors, give Daniel and his family food to eat and much more.

We covered MicRogue in the last roundup - it's a mix of conventional roguelike dungeon-crawling and board game movement mechanics. This here is a paid version with no in-app purchases. Have at it.

Divide By Sheep Free

Divide By Sheep is a delightfully malicious little puzzle game where you guide a group of sheep through an insane set of deathtraps. This is a free version that's supported by ads. Check it out for some gruesome cartoony fun.

Divide By Sheep is the award winning math puzzler about the Grim Reaper's devious plan to make some sheepy friends. Grim can only befriend the dead, so he decided to unleash a great flood and drag the sheep under. Now stranded on small islands and sinking fast, the sheep need you to help them reach safety. You save the little animals by solving clever math puzzles.

Paper Monsters Recut

Paper Monsters was an adorable (or quite possibly adowable) 2.5D platformer from Crescent Moon Games that we were pretty taken with back in 2012. The original is still available, but if you'd like to try it without spending any cash, here's a new version with some retooled levels and elements, free with in-app purchases.

Dive into the world of Paper Monsters Recut and watch a living world made out of paper, cardboard, and even a few cotton balls unfold right before your eyes.

The latest addition to the widening Skylanders collection is intended to be a companion app to a series of Pokemon-style battle cards. Point the camera at your cards and you can see your critters come to life in augmented reality. The game has a few quests included, but most of the fun is in seeing your physical cards get animated through your phone.

  • the app's launch date has to be no longer than 2 weeks ago
  • it has to be original, ground-breaking, well-reviewed, interesting, fun, etc - the cream of the crop

Now, if and only if the above requirements have been satisfied, fire up an email to this address: oh.no.its.the@androidpolice.com.

1 sponsored placement per week is available (your app would be featured at the top and marked as sponsored) - please contact us for details.
