Fans of point-and-click adventure games are spoiled for choice on mobile platforms. It seems like every week we get a new game or a remastered classic for connoisseurs to chew on. This week's special is Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, a 1993 Sierra original that was remastered last year. This tale of a bookstore owner investigating a series of murders on New Orleans is one of the favorites of the genre.

The original game was entirely comprised of 2D sprites, but with the remastered version you get remade prerendered backgrounds and new 3D characters to walk around them. All of the game's story animation and portraits have also been redone in a sort of motion-comic style as well. It probably isn't all that mind-blowing if you're used to modern games, but compared to the original version and its Sierra contemporaries, it looks fantastic. The story takes more than a few pages out of Stephen King's books with the addition of some local history and the requisite puzzles. It's also quite spooky - Gabriel Knight entirely earns the "M" rating it has on the Play Store.

The game is a free download, which also grants you access to the first two days of the story. The second, third, and fourth chapters will cost you $2.99, $3.99, and $3.99 for a total of $11. Considering that the PC version costs $20 for the same story, I'd call it a steal. Gabriel Knight is compatible with all Android 4.0+ devices, and includes support for Android TV. You'll also need at least 1.34GB of storage free on your device.
