Ticklr - Ticker notifications
Android 5.0 formally introduced Heads Up notifications, the little pop-up windows that appear when notifications come in while you're actually using your phone. It also got rid of the ticker text in the notification bar, the 4.4 and under equivalent. If you prefer the status quo, this app will bring back the old style and disable Heads Up, plus a few extra tweaks for the paid "pro" version.
Ticklr provides ticker notifications for Android Lollipop users
■ Features :
• Ticker notifications for each app
• Custom colors
• Disable heads-up notifications, automatically disable system heads-up notifications
• Ticker on lockscreen
• Wake the screen for a short time when receiving a notification
• Low battery usage
• Material design
• Automatic color for each app (PRO)
• Custom settings for each app (PRO)
• More settings, max lines, scroll speed, ... (PRO)
Indiloop takes a traditional approach to music remixing: while the interface is tuned for easy manipulation on mobile, it's also surprisingly powerful. All of the basic tools you'd expect to find are included in the drag-and-drop UI, plus a sort of baked-in social network for listening to and downloading other users' mixes. Unfortunately some severe bugs are dragging Google Play reviews down, and the in-app purchases can add up quickly.
Indiloop has created the easiest way to remix music ever. It’s so easy to use you will be remixing music in no time. Indiloop’s easy to use drag & drop interface allows you to drag music from your favorite songs into the mixer then watch them snap together in the same BPM, and Key. Remixing music really has never been this easy. Download the app and you will be remixing music in minutes.
Fanly - Sports Feeds by Team
If you can't get enough sports news from Google News, ESPN, the sports section of your national news app, the sports app of your national news provider, or just generally browsing the web, now there's this. Fanly delivers team-specific news and highlights from most of the major American sports, along with social news from players and other prominent figures on Twitter. Right now the developers don't seem interested in international sports - sorry, curling, hurling, and jai alai fans.
Fanly has the best news feeds for all your favorite teams, all-in-one place and everywhere you go. It's the easiest way to check-in on all your teams with stories from over 2,000 top sources updated daily. No more flipping through multiple apps or having to visit several different sites to get your daily fix. We've got all your teams covered and all-in-one place. Fanly is about making it easier to be a fan and saving everyone a ton of time.
Redub is another one of those minimal video editors, but this time it's designed specifically to let you put your own voice into popular videos (or, I suppose, your own). The impressive user interface allows for some recreational fun, and the app's browsing feature lets you watch other people's efforts if you're really bored.
Its never been this easy to make epic music videos.
1. Select your favourite video clip
2. Record your own version of it
3. Mix videos with awesome effects
Microsoft Channel 9
Microsoft has a developer web channel? Apparently so, and in keeping with the company's new "everything everywhere" policy, we get an official app on Android. Nice.
Provides a way to browse and view videos on a variety of developer and consumer topics from the Channel9.msdn.com web site.
Hey kids, wouldn't it be cool if your school had a teacher-mandated social network that your parents could snoop on whenever they wanted, including your photos and conversations? That's the idea behind Brightwheel, which seems to be a solution in search of a problem. This is an app that lets teachers, nannies, and other guardians track kids more or less down to the minute, including updates for attendance, naps, or even bathroom breaks. Yeah, it's kinda creepy.
Brightwheel is everything you need for your preschool or daycare, all in one simple app. It’s easy to get started and free for schools, teachers, and parents. Schools: manage your classrooms, track attendance, share photos, manage billing and send paperless invoices, and easily communicate with parents. We have worked tirelessly with teachers and administrators to make it all as simple and seamless as possible. It’s all available with your one brightwheel account.
The grand old Beeb feels the need to market its news to "millenials," whatever that means... and apparently it means magazine-style content that's pretty much the same crap you'd see in Buzzfeed or Gawker. (But with a better accent.) NewsBeat is an app full of last week's Reddit stories with some nice formatting and easy links to share them on Facebook, plus some Instagrams, because that's what them darn kids like these days.
Get the news that matters to millennials, brought to you by BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s news team. The Newsbeat app will make you laugh and make you think. We’re first with stories which affect you, music and entertainment news, social trends and big interviews. We cover politics, money, jobs, technology, gaming, clubbing, student issues, sexual health and anything else you’re interested in.
Localeur – The Best in Local
Raise your hand if you need another local business recommendation app. Come on, don't be shy... well, here's one anyway. Localeur bills itself as a "local's insider guide" to food and entertainment, but it's hard to see how that differs greatly from competing apps and services - aren't most of the people who review a Chinese place on Yelp "locals?"
For the first time ever, Localeur is available for download to your Android device. Now you have access to thousands of recommendations on where to eat, drink and play in major U.S. cities with every single recommendation coming directly from a local.Learn about the best places in your own city or the cities you visit, save favorites and make to-go lists, and check out the places your friends love too.
Parents spying on children is an ancient tradition, and Google's parental controls don't really do a whole lot in that respect. This app (when paired with the parental control panel) does: it sends you an alert when your kid searches for a trigger word, detects adult phrases in other apps, blocks adult content on the web, and the upgraded version can remotely lock your kid's phone.
WordKik Child protects your child's phone or tablet, it prevents your child from seeing adult content on their android browser like Google Chrome. If you are afraid that your child might see adult content download WordKik Child on their phone or tablet to keep them safe. WordKik Child is controlled and monitored using WordKik Parental Control from the parents phone/tablet. WordKik Child filters data locally so your child's information is kept safe.
Sofia the First Color and Play
Disney continues its two-front attack to try and slowly take over the world one little girl at a time: Frozen on one side, Sofia the First on the other. This app is basically an interactive coloring book, but it includes an admirable amount of drawing and shading tools - probably more than the average kindergarten playroom, at any rate. Other mini-games should keep them entertained for a few hours on a long trip. The app is pricey at $5, but has no in-app purchases.
Color and play to your artist's delight with this all-new, super-fun creativity app from Disney. Let your imagination take over as you paint everything in Sofia’s Royal Bedroom and Cedric's Lab, even Sofia and Clover. Then, watch it all come to life in amazing 3D. Customize your textures with the in-app camera, and let your inner artist shine in this magical 3D coloring experience.
Inside Out Storybook Deluxe
Inside Out is Pixar's oddly surreal tale of anthropomorphic emotions, and this is the official story book for the movie. It consists of a few pages of basic read-along text for kids to practice phonics and some fairly benign mini-games. There's also a sort of Flash theater for playing out basic stories, not to mention the usual batch of animations and sound clips. The app is a whopping $7, which might actually be more expensive than an Inside Out coloring book at the supermarket.
Let your Emotions run wild as you journey through the Storybook Deluxe retelling of Disney•Pixar’s original feature film, INSIDE OUT.
• Interact with the five Emotions—Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger—to discover how they see the world.
• Create your own memory spheres with your own pictures, colors, effects, and sounds.
• Create hilarious dreams in Dream Productions—using animals, astronauts, dentists, and more.
• Read on your own, record your own voice, or read along with the narration that accompanies this retelling of INSIDE OUT.
• Creative activities to express your emotions, dreams, and imagination.
• Features clips and quotes from the actual film.
• Fun and surprising interactions with characters from the film.

Android Police coverage: Ultimate Ears Announces The UE ROLL, The Successor To The Mini BOOM
Ultimate Ears makes some nice Bluetooth speakers, especially if you can find them on sale. This is a management app for the new UE Roll, a new speaker that actually can roll (just don't try to make it bounce). Like the apps for the previous speakers in the line, it includes an equalizer, an alarm clock function, and the ability to play a phone's music through two UE Roll speakers at the same time.
You'd never walk all the way to your TV to turn it on and you shouldn't have to with your wireless speaker either. Use the UE ROLL app to control the party from afar and to unlock an expanding set of cool additional features like Double Up, our musical alarm and fully customizable 5-band EQ. UE ROLL app features include:
- Double Up – Wirelessly Double Up with a second UE ROLL and take your party to 11. Use the app to control the balance and to choose between Stereo or Double sound. Double Up also works with UE BOOM and UE MEGABOOM.
- Remote Control – Use the app as a remote control to power your UE ROLL on/off from afar.
- Alarm - Start last night's party all over again–every morning. UE ROLL wakes you up with your favorite songs, Spotify playlists, Pandora stations and more. Because the party never actually stops–you just pass out.
- Customizable 5-band EQ - Use the fully customizable five-band equalizer to custom-tune the sound so it's just right for you. Need a little more bass? Done. More highs and mids?. No problem. You set it how you like it.
Intel's MICA wearable is baffling. It's a fashion-first product that sells for $500, complete with inlaid semi-precious stones. Its specs are so inconsequential that Intel barely mentions anything beyond a built-in GSM radio (the thing doesn't actually need to talk to your phone). So what's this app for then? Basically it forwards SMS messages and other notifications through the Internet. It might make more sense if the thing itself wasn't so ugly.
The MICA Connect application allows you to link your Android phone to your MICA so you can text any of your Android contacts from the MICA. Your private MICA number can still be kept exclusive, and your contacts won’t even know you are using your MICA. MICA Connect will even let you know if you missed a call on your phone and keep you informed on your phones status. This application will only work if you have a MICA.

Smart B-Trainer for Running
Sony has a pair of headphones that also include a built-in MP3 player and heart monitor. This is the official app that lets you manage them, along with the usual run tracking and logging. Oddly, the app seems to have been enabled worldwide despite the fact that the SSE-BTR1 headphones aren't available outside of Asia.
Smart B-Trainer is a new type of “Smart Sports Gear” which combines fitness tracker and music player. It can log your fitness stats and choose music based on your performance to make your training more effective and fun. “Smart B-Trainer for Running” is an app for running and training that works with Smart B-Trainer (SSE- BTR1). Dynamics Time Management
Apparently Microsoft makes a timecard manager too. Who knew?
Microsoft Dynamics Time Management is a tablet application that enables users of Microsoft Dynamics GP to create, view, edit and submit timecards. The application offers users the flexibility to manage vacation and sick time in Payroll or enter time against benefit time codes if using Human Resources. Microsoft Dynamics Time Management integrates with Microsoft Dynamics GP through Service Based Architecture (SBA).
WTF App(s) Of The Week
Android Police coverage: Tindog Is Tinder For Dogs, Seriously
Tinder is a dating app that famously enables the more shallow parts of human nature with its "swipe left or right" UI. Tindog is the same thing... for dogs. For some reason. Even Lassie couldn't read or operate electronics, so it's not clear whether the app is actually for dogs or simply shallow owners, who may or may not be qualified to evaluate the sexual prowess of strange dogs. Besides, Lassie wouldn't judge a boy-dog on his appearance alone - she was a classy lady.
Introducing Tindog, the first application that both dogs and dog owners love equally. Give your dog an exciting opportunity to make new friends near you. Chat, share photos and meet other dog lovers in your area. Swipe left to ignore and right to like and get instant matches. Start having fun today. Tindog… not only for dogs.
