Google made some big changes to Gmail when it retired the stock email app. You have the ability to manage non-Google email accounts in the app these days, but here comes something new. Today's Gmail app update has improved matters further by adding Oauth support for Yahoo and Microsoft accounts.

Oauth is an open protocol that lets an app access a service without sharing the actual credentials (it uses access tokens). It's a more secure way to connect to your accounts. The Oauth implementation in Gmail for Yahoo and Microsoft accounts means you can also use features like two-step verification and account recovery.

Google says the usual assortment of minor fixes and performance boosts are included in the update as well. It's rolling out in the Play Store over the next few days, but we've got it on APK Mirror right now. Have at it.
