The Moto X line is a great destination for Nexus lovers who tire of feeling like beta testers for Google, but the transition does come at the expense of timely updates (not that all Nexus devices are speedy). Fortunately Motorola remains committed to getting its devices up to date, and it looks like Android 5.1 may soon come to both iterations of the Moto X.

Motorola has posted release notes detailing what users can expect from the 5.1 update. Here we see changes listed for the 1st generation Moto X, which currently still sits on KitKat.

The contents of the changelogs aren't what's interesting here. We've had over half a year to familiarize ourselves with Lollipop, and we've been highlighting 5.1's enhancements for a couple of months. What matters is that Motorola has made these pages public. In addition to the original Moto X, there are some up for the 2014 model (AT&T and T-Mobile/Pure Edition).

The 2nd Gen Moto E is joining the party too. Motorola has posted release notes stating that the device will also get Android 5.1.

These release notes imply that updates should roll out soon. Here's to hoping and waiting, something 1st gen Moto X owners are already used to.
