This week's roundup is brought to you by Expense IQ - Expense Manager from Handy Apps. This amazingly complete expense tracking system has a solid and colorful UI, and just about every possible checkbook, alert, and tracking feature you could want. Everything you input can be saved and exported for personal backup and expense reports, and all your data is synced via Dropbox, making Expense IQ a snap to use across multiple phones or tablets. Bill alerts, a PIN lock, and even a homescreen widget are all included in this app's bag of additional goodies. The basic version is free, but to get access to advanced functions you'll need to pay for the full $9.95 version via in-app purchase.
Expense IQ is the long awaited successor to EasyMoney - the number one money manager app that combines an expense manager, a bill reminder, a checkbook register and a budget planner. Expense IQ – Expense Manager provides a rich, detailed window into your personal finances and daily money management needs. Track and manage daily expenses quickly & easily. Business expenses, personal expenses, travel expenses etc can all be managed rapidly using Expense IQ’s simple and intuitive user interface. Interactive reports & graphs let you analyze income, expenses, cash flow and balance over various date ranges and accounts.
Google Handwriting Input
Google introduced its handwriting recognition app into the Play Store out of the blue last week. It's pretty self-explanatory: the app replaces your virtual keyboard with a handwriting area, which supports cursive and standard script in an impressive 82 languages. Word recognition and spelling correction features carry over from Google's first-party keyboard. You can even draw emojis, if that takes your fancy.
Google Handwriting Input allows you to handwrite text on your phone or tablet in 82 languages. It supports printed and cursive writing, with or without a stylus. Google Handwriting Input also supports hundreds of emojis, so you can express yourself in any Android app.
• A useful complement to touchscreen typing or voice input
• A fun way to enter emojis by drawing
• Useful for languages that can be challenging to type on a standard keyboard
• Works across your Android phones and tablets running Android 4.0.3 and up
• If you claim your handwriting is terrible, try it out and see if it can convince you otherwise
Gramophone Music Player Beta
Android Police coverage: Material Design Music Player Gramophone Now Available In Public Beta On The Play Store
Google Play Music is pretty good for what it is, but it's far too heavy if all you want to do is play some local music files. Gramophone, now in public beta after a long private round, is a local player with everything you need and nothing you don't. That includes one of the better Material Design interfaces we've seen in a while and integration with Last.FM, not to mention essentials like widgets and lockscreen controls.
Probably the best looking music player out there. The entire user interface matches the material design guidelines to ensure Gramophone is an eye candy for you. Full usage of Android 5.0 Lollipops API 21 (scene transitions and ripples). No complicated or overblown menus but a familiar interface, so that you will feel right at home when you start using Gramophone. The floating play-/pause button is always present to allow quick playback controls.
Office Remote for Android
PowerPoint presentations are still around. While they seem to be harder to get rid of than fossil fuel reliance, at least they look a little better these days, and you can control them without being tethered to a keyboard. This official Microsoft app is a remote control for your slideshow, complete with live previews and timing tools. It can also "remote view" Excel and Word documents, if you're in the odd habit of using them for presentations.
With Office Remote, you can start your PowerPoint presentation, advance the slides, see your speaker notes, and control an on-screen laser pointer with a touch of your finger — all from your phone. You can also navigate between Excel worksheets and graphs, and control data slicers from the palm of your hand. And you can scroll through a Word document or quickly jump to specific sections or comments.
Emergency - American Red Cross
The American Red Cross has been making some great preparation and relief apps for various disasters for years. This one is specifically for monitoring people and places: add Akron, Ohio because your parents live there, and you'll get an alert every time there's a danger of a tornado or flood. There's also a contact book for quickly sharing emergency details and basic tools like a strobe light and location alarm.
Help keep your family safe in severe weather, man made/natural hazards with Emergency by the American Red Cross. Monitor conditions in your area or area of loved ones, prepare your family and your home, check to see if loved ones are safe and let them know you’re safe. A must have for anyone who live in areas prone to severe weather or have loved ones that do.
Android Police coverage: Yerdle Launches On Android So You Can Give Away Your Old Stuff And Get Other Stuff For (Almost) Free
Yerdle is basically a digital version of a swap meet. Post photos of stuff you don't want any more (and presumably can't pawn or sell on Craigslist), and shop for stuff that other people don't want. Items are "paid" for with Yerdle's fake currency, so the more stuff you give away, the more you can "buy." You do have to pay for shipping for things that come to you, but not for things that go out to others.
Yerdle is a store where you post a pic and shop for free. Start with $25 in Yerdle Reuse Dollars when you join today. By giving away things you no longer need on Yerdle, you earn Yerdle Reuse Dollars. Use your Yerdle dollars to get things you want, and only pay shipping. Yerdle captures the value of things you’re happy to give away, so you can shop for free. Kitchen tools, camping gear, electronics, clothing, kid’s toys, unique finds – you can give and get nearly anything on Yerdle.
Android Police coverage: LinkedIn Debuts Elevate, An App To Help Businesses Get Employees To Also Become Unpaid Marketers
Show of hands: who uses LinkedIn? Okay, okay... now who actually likes LinkedIn? For those few people, you can now see a specialized LinkedIn feed with only stuff that your bosses want you to see. Basically LinkedIn is offering a tool for employers to make unpaid marketers out of all their employees... who'll mostly be sharing with other employees at the same company. Yeah, I don't get it either. At the moment Elevate is in closed beta.
LinkedIn Elevate is only available to employees at participating companies. Interested in getting this for your company? Visit https://business.linkedin.com/elevate for more information. LinkedIn Elevate gives you an easy way to discover unique articles and insights about topics you’re interested in – then share them to show you’re at the top of your game. With great content hand-picked by people at your company, you’ll feel confident that you’re sharing the kind of valuable, relevant stuff that your network will truly appreciate.
.Do - Task List & To-do Lists
Do, or possibly dot-Do, is a full-featured to-do app (natch) with a lot of Material style. In addition to the usual tasks, lists, and reminders, the app includes both its own calendar and cloud syncing. It also has support for photo notes, voice recordings ("note to self"), and collaboration tools. For people who want a little more out of their personal task managers, this looks like a much more complete solution than Google Keep.
Do is a super simple and fast tasks, reminders, and to-do list app. There are many apps, that have lot of features and customization, but it is difficult and time consuming to learn how to use them. To organize yourself or your daily routine, an app should be as easy to use as the traditional pen and paper. And Do is just that. Furthermore, Do is the powerful choice for students, people of business, moms, dads or in fact anybody wanting to de-clutter their lives.
If you refer to yourself as a "visual learner" without even a trace element of irony, Mindly is here to allow you to make quick and surprisingly attractive thought clouds on mobile devices. The interface extends from just a few notes to dozens (check out the vertical screenshot down there), and tools allow you to export projects as texts or PDF, and backup to Dropbox. The free app is a bit limited, with an expensive $6 in-app purchase unlocking all elements.
Mindly helps to organize your inner universe. Give a structure to your thoughts, capture ideas, plan a speech, take notes. It is up to you. The universe is yours. If you are a visual person (like us) you will love the way Mindly works. Mindly eliminates all unnecessary clutter and helps you to focus on your ideas, thoughts and concepts.
• Thought structuring
• Idea collection
• Planning a project
• Preparing a speech
• Preparing for a meeting
• Writing a quick summary
Castro is basically a hardware info app with a pretty Material Design face. It's nothing we haven't seen before (see AIDA64 for a crazy-thorough version of the same basic idea), but it's probably the prettiest implementation.
Castro an application for your smartphone or tablet, that shows you all general information about your device.
- Information about CPU
- Battery status and temperature
- Information about mobile network and Wi-Fi
- General information about device
- Monitoring of RAM and internal memory
The app is frequently updating and gets newer functions that you are able to suggest/offer us.
You also have the opportunity to translate to your language, complete information can be found by clicking on the link: http://itemstudio.oneskyapp.com/collaboration/project?id=55750
Android generally does a good job of managing its own resources, especially since Jelly Bean. But there's always that one app that stays running in the background like a hamster on Red Bull. Trepn helps you find and kill those apps, and view other general stats like CPU load, network usage, detailed battery specs, and the like. It's especially handy for Qualcomm-powered Android devices, but you should be able to find at least something useful on any Android machine.
Trepn™ Profiler is a power and performance profiling application for mobile devices. It is designed to help you identify apps that hog your CPU, consume excess data or drain your battery. Although Trepn Profiler runs on most Android devices, additional features are available when used with devices featuring Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processors, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
This is a translation app that specializes in cross-language voice support. It's basically the same thing as the new live translation feature in Google Translate with a few more bells and whistles, namely voice commands for definitions and sharing for longer strings of text. Right now it also supports a wider variety of voice translation languages than Google Translate, but unfortunately there's no back-and-forth conversation mode.
Instantly speak over 40 languages. Can you imagine talking into your phone in one language and immediately hearing yourself in another? That’s exactly what iTranslate Voice does. Just speak into your phone and it immediately replies in one of our 42 languages. With iTranslate Voice you can:
• Instantly speak over 40 languages
• No typing needed. The accuracy of our voice recognition is so amazing that you don't need your keyboard anymore.
• Look up definitions and translations for common words & phrases, just using your voice.
• Simply send translations via Email, SMS, Twitter or Facebook.
Peership is Uber for shipping. Put your pitchforks down, the analogy actually works here: you post an item that you need to get from point A to point B, someone agrees to take the job for a set price (usually because he or she is already going in the same direction, i.e. commuting). It's an interesting way to move things around town... but I wouldn't put an ad up to deliver anything worth more than the delivery charge.
PeerShip is a social shipping and delivery app that allows Facebook users to request deliveries such as bananas or to list items they want to ship within the same city such as a jacket that a friend forgot at the user’s house. The users offer their price for the service. Once these requests are submitted, PeerShip alerts nearby users that there is an item in their vicinity that needs to be delivered along their current commutes, or that a user needs a delivery. These items will be then picked up and delivered, and the user automatically paid.
FreshFeed: Trending Content
Want a Reddit-style presentation of all the cool things on the Internet without Reddit's crappy interface, and with considerably more sanitization? FreshFeed hopes to deliver. It's basically a social network "what's hot" feed without the social network, which is probably something that incurable shut-ins like myself can appreciate. If you want to share what you find with friends (weirdo), that's built in as well.
We feed you the web’s freshest content featuring trending videos, news, gifs, images, articles, stories, blogs, activities, gadgets and more. From wtf funny videos to breaking news, FreshFeed delivers entertaining content on-the-go. FreshFeed is your go-to destination for kick-ass content based on what you’re into.
- Content discovery that evolves with your interests
- Every time you enter the app, discover fresh content featuring trending videos, breaking news, funny gifs, local activities, and other cool stuff
- Stop wasting time waiting for feeds to update. We do the heavy lifting so your content loads instantly
- Easily share your favorite content with friends via Facebook, Twitter, and email
ReTXT is another cross-platform messenger with a WhatsApp-style $1 a year entry fee. It hopes to provide better features, namely end-to-end encryption and the ability to edit your text messages (handy for those embarrassing Freudian slips). Embedded photos and videos, group texts, directions, and a bunch of other bells and whistles are included.
reTXT is the first cross-platform messaging application that provides all the features you've always wished you had. Sending texts, images & videos has never been easier and more worry free thanks to the ability to change or delete messages you've already sent. Utilizing advanced end-to-end encryption, every message you send is always private and can only be viewed by the recipient; this includes all text, images and videos. Free First 60 days. ($0.99 USD year there after)

Contacts, Inbox and CRM in One
Unless you're in marketing or sales, "CRM" probably doesn't mean a whole lot to you. If it does, Cloze (which oddly isn't listed in the actual title of the app) attempts to put absolutely every aspect of customer relations management. It's an all-encompassing mishmash of emails, contacts, calendars, agendas, and social networks. If you think an all-in-one app can manage that better (or at least faster) than stand-alone apps, give it a whirl.
Cloze is like a personal assistant for your professional relationships that is always prompting you at the right moment and remembering what you don’t. It pulls from your apps to automatically create one view of every person and company - all their contact details, and your complete history - every email back and forth, your phone calls together, your meetings, your notes on Evernote, documents you exchanged and your interactions on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
The Smarter Place
The Smarter Place is an app that attempts to store all of the manuals, registration forms, warranty cards, and various paper detritus of your home appliances and electronics in the cloud. Oh, and it's also an inventory of all that stuff. And... a calendar? And a budget organizer. And a chore reminder for your roommates or kids. The Smarter Place isn't really sure of exactly what it wants to be, but it really wants you to use it.
TheSmarterPlace is here to help you manage your home in a simple & fun way. With your TheSmarterPlace Android App you control your home – everywhere and anytime. Build the structure of your home or your apartment like in reality, add the rooms and objects in those rooms, and you will have the perfect overview of what you own and what it is worth. You are informed what must be done in your home and how you want to improve it.

Office Delve - for Office 365
Android Police coverage: Microsoft Office Delve Shows You The Latest Changes To Shared Office 365 Documents And Contacts
If your office runs on, um, Office, you might be able to find a use for Delve. It's Microsoft's interface for sharing and monitoring Office 365 documents, showing you who viewed or modified what and when. The app has a basic viewer for supported file types, but in order to edit anything you'll need to pop out into the larger stand-alone apps.

- Discover new information
- Find documents through people
- Get back to documents you’re working on
In Delve you’ll only see content that has been shared with you. This means that your colleagues won’t see your private documents, and you won’t see theirs.
This app is an effects processor for Android and the popular iRig digital guitar accessory. I'm going to be perfectly honest, I have no idea how all this musical stuff works. I'll assume that it's complicated and expensive (the in-app purchases, presumably for digital versions of "branded" equipment, certainly are), though you can download and try it for free.
Your guitar tone on your Android phone - A complete professional guitar & bass multi-effects processor for all Android smartphone and tablet devices. AmpliTube UA is the revolutionary free companion app to iRig UA. It lets you turn any Android device* into the ultimate mobile guitar and bass multi-effects processor.
