AT&T customers with a regular need to dial numbers in Mexico are about to save some money. The wireless carrier announced today unlimited calling to our southern neighbor, available to anyone who adds the World Connect Value package to their postpaid plan. Folks who already have the $5 add-on will receive the benefit automatically.

This announcement comes after AT&T finished its .5 billion acquisition of lusacell, Mexico's third largest wireless provider, last week. Now the company is ready to capitalize on its investment, giving customers in America the ability to dial out to any fixed or mobile line in Mexico, the country its users call most frequently.

The lowest Verizon goes is one cent a minute following a monthly access charge. Sprint offers 500 "free" minutes as part of its $5 Mexico & More package, but the carrier still charges you one cent per minute after as well. T-Mobile's $5 international package, while providing unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes to over 30 countries, stops at 1,000 for calls placed to Mexico.

So for the time being, AT&T has the Mexico calling deal to beat.
