Blu isn't a company that's typically known for pushing out the highest-end flagship devices, but rather a solid company offering unlocked budget handsets. It's always releasing new handsets, giving potential customers a lot to choose from. At CES this year, the company took wraps off of seven new handsets (to be fair, a couple of those are from the same line), none of which cost more than $199 off-contract. Powerhouses? Probably not. Good return for the money? I'd almost guarantee it. Let's take a quick look at each one.

Vivo Air

The Vivo Air is basically the successor to last year's slim and sleek Vivo IV. This model clocks in at a super thin 5.1mm and weighs less than 100 grams, making it one of the thinnest and lightest smartphones on the market today.

Specs:

  • Network: (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, (4G HSPA+ 21Mbps) 850/1900/2100

The Air should be available in mid-January for $199.

Studio Energy

If you want battery life, that's what the Studio Energy is all about. It's packing a massive 5,000mAh battery inside of its 10mm-thick frame, and is said to deliver up to four days of battery life. That's probably under optimal conditions, so even under heavy use you should be able to score at least a couple of days. That in itself is pretty impressive.

Specs:

  • Network: (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, (4G HSPA+ 21Mbps) 850/1700/1900, 850/1900/2100

Life One Series

This pair is Blu's second generation from the Life One line, and comes in two different sizes: the five-inch Life One and 5.5-inch Life One XL. They sport identical specs, so it's really all about which size is more appealing to the user. While the specs (shown below) aren't anything to write home about, it's worth noting that these are among the first handsets Blu is promising will end up with Lollipop. The big question is when, however, which unfortunately doesn't yet have an answer.

Life One Specs:

The Life One and Life One XL will be available by the end of March and run $179/$199 respectively.

Studio X and X Plus

This duo is essentially the Studio version of the Life One and One XL. Like their Life series counterparts, the X features a five-inch display, while the X Plus sports a larger 5.5-inch panel. Otherwise, this is a pretty run-of-the-mill budget pair, especially under the hood. Like the Life Ones, however, Blu is promising a bump to Lollipop eventually.

Studio X Specs:

  • Network: (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, (4G HSPA+ 21Mbps) 850/1700/1900, 850/1900/2100

You can pick up the Studio X and Studio X Plus at the end of January for $129 and $159 respectively.

Studio G

While the Studio G is the most underpowered of the bunch, it's also the most affordable. At just $89, I wouldn't expect a whole lot from this little guy, but it may fit the bill perfectly for someone who really needs a phone and doesn't have more than a Benji to drop on one.

Specs:

  • Network: (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, (4G HSPA+ 21Mbps) 850/1700/1900, 850/1900/2100
