Samsung tablets usually don't do much for me - if I'm not discouraged by the software, then the physical navigation buttons are a major turn-off. But I must admit that the Super AMOLED screens on the Tab S series turn my head every time I see them. If you've been hunting for one of your own, the 10.5" Galaxy Tab S is on sale in refurbished form over on eBay. It's going for 4.99, a full $165 off of the retail price.
This particular tablet comes in the standard 16GB brown model, and though it's only "seller refurbished," it does have a one-year warranty. The Washington state-based seller is only shipping to the United States, and even then, not to Alaska, Hawaii, or any of the protectorates. Sorry, international readers. On the plus side, you can skip sales tax unless you happen to live in Washington or Indiana, and eBay's usual free economy shipping applies.
The Tab S 10.5 uses a gorgeous 2560x1600 screen, an Exynos 5 Octa processor, a generous 3GB of RAM, and a 7900mAh battery somehow crammed into its 6.6mm frame. The usual Samsung design elements, like a MicroSD card slot and TouchWiz on top of Android 4.4, are present. Cameron called the Tab S 10.5 and its smaller brother the "best tablets you can buy" back in June of this year. The eBay listing has "limited quantities," but they don't seem to be going particularly quickly, especially considering the steep discount.
