The Sony SmartWatch 3 has occupied a spot in the Play Store since mid-October, where it has sat priced at $249.99 and marked as "coming soon." Soon means now, as the watch has gone live. You can still find it at the same link and for the same price, only now it's available for purchase.

The watch is more fitness-oriented than the other options in the Play Store, eschewing a metal frame and any attempt at luxury in favor of a plastic band that covers everything except for the screen. With a 1.2GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A7 processor, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, and a 320 by 320 display, the SmartWatch 3 doesn't sound all that different from pre-existing devices. But it is the first Android Wear device to ship with a GPS chip. This will allow it to take advantage of functionality included in the next version of the platform that older models won't be able to tap into. It also has a relatively large battery (420mAh) and is rated IP68.

For now, the SmartWatch 3 is only listed in one color, and none of the interchangeable straps are up on display. But if you're just fine with owning this thing in black, you can have one strapped to your wrist in just a matter of days.
