Android Police coverage: AutoInput By joaomgcd Is A Tasker Plugin For Automating All Of Your Taps, Swipes, Text Entries, And More

AutoInput is perhaps the most impressive modification of Google's voice-activated system we've seen yet. This powerful app lets you set up custom commands and replies for a crazy amount of apps, tying in with almost anything via the popular Tasker system. (AutoInput doesn't need root to run, though some advanced Tasker functions may need it.) Check out the video for some of the more exotic implementations. A free week-long trial is available, and the full functionality is just $1.35.

You can try out the full version of AutoInput with the built-in 7 day trial. You need to sign in to Google+ to enter the trial so that it stores your trial date on Google's "Cloud Saves" server. You can just set all sharing settings to private if you're concerned about privacy when signing in :) AutoInput is a Tasker plugin. Android L, sorry, Lollipop, redesigns the lockscreen to put notifications front and center. This app seems to want to do a lot of the same things for older devices: it's basically a mirror of your notification bar that can be used as a lockscreen or homescreen widget, or even as a little-used Daydream. Notifications are reproduced more or less exactly, and you can swipe or activate notifications just like you would expect to.

If you're happy with the current versions, you might want to wait it out.

It's for sharing a temporary location with contacts in pretty much every major chat app (or an old-fashioned email or copied text string) and not much else. This edition of the app will let you share your location for a set amount of time, but it doesn't include the mapping, history, or integrated chat features of the "full" app.

Ever wished that you could add the temporary location feature from Glympse to WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, or Facebook Messenger? Well now you can. Glympse Express enables you to quickly share a temporary link so others can see your location on a live map. Open Glympse Express and simply select the app in which you wish to share location. Qik is dead. Long live Qik. Microsoft subsidiary Skype has repurposed its old video chat application into, well, a new video chat application, though in effect it's focused more on (sigh) short video messages than live chats. If that sounds familiar, it should. If you're looking for more conventional video messaging, well, it's been included in the main Skype app for a while now.

Introducing Skype Qik (say “quick”), a free* video messenger made for capturing moments and sharing laughs throughout your day. Set up a group and immediately start shooting and swapping videos. Send something to crack your friends up, or show off a new dance move—whatever you want. New messages are added to a chat that you can watch like a movie with a single tap. Microsoft Xim

Android Police coverage: Microsoft Xim Is A Neat Way To Share Photos Without Actually Sharing Them

Microsoft has a lot of apps available for Android, but Xim is probably the weirdest one yet. It allows you and friends to view photos together, and I mean really together - swiping through photos on your phone will make them advance on the other guy's phone, more like a presentation than an app. The "Xim" disappears after a while, making for a decently private experience if the other parties don't know how to take screenshots.

Are you a fan of SPORTS? No you're not. If you were a real SPORTS fan, you would already be using Fancred. This somewhat intense application combines elements of Instagram, Foursquare, and Delicious, but only for SPORTS. It does include a ton of SPORTS teams, almost 3000 across various SPORTS. That being said, there's nothing in this app that you can't already do elsewhere. Without the SPORTS.

Probably even seen some amazing plays, taken killer photos, and made memories with friends that will last a lifetime. How did you capture all those sports moments? Exactly. Obscure is basically a mix between Instagram and the Game Boy Camera. It includes basic filters and some kiddie-grade editing tools that lend themselves well to the mobile interface, but serious editing is out. When you send a photo to someone else, they can continue to edit it. There's also an odd "privacy scrambler" for the built-in messaging client. If you're a fan of the goofy social network photo, this one's for you, but everyone else probably already has a go-to app for this sort of thing.

Apply interactive filters to pictures, and send them to your friends. They can play with each picture, or request to see the original. Ever wish you can take back that not-too-awesome picture or message? Obscure’s got you covered – You are always in control of what you send, and anything can be deleted from their device, too. Ever feel like someone is looking over your shoulder reading your messages? Obscure can help with that – Turn on the text filter to scramble messages.

comiXchat

I don't understand the appeal of this app - you trade your standard photo or icon avatar for a hand-drawn comic book character, and you and the other party make a sort of comic book with the usual text bubbles. Except that 90% of the chat sessions I have are about where to meet or when someone will be available... which would make for an awfully boring comic book. Still, I suppose some users might find it entertaining.

Samba is essentially the same as Vine or Instagram's video option, but it focuses on the reactions of the people you send your video to.
