The first step to having any real ROM-type fun is getting a custom recovery for your device. Well, the Oppo Find 7a is getting TWRP support even before it's widely available (only for sale in China right now). While Cyanogen Inc. has moved on to work with One Plus, Oppo is forging ahead with another modding-friendly Android device.

The TWRP image can be flashed to the device in fastboot mode, which then allows you to install any ZIP files you like. Keep in mind this recovery is for the Find 7a. There is also the premium Find 7 which will have a 5.5-inch 1440p screen and 3GB of RAM when it comes out in a month or two. The 7a is similar in most respects, but packs a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and 2GB of RAM.

The first batch of non-Chinese devices will ship toward the end of the month ($499), but you can get the recovery image and let it sit useless on your hard drive until then.
