Over the past year or so, HTC devices have become notoriously more difficult to root/mod/S-Off than the devices of yesteryear. When one series of devices gets cracked, the next generation released by HTC has historically been drastically more difficult to crack.

This has been the case for some of the more recent HTC devices; namely the Amaze, Rezound, Sensation/XE, Vivid/Raider/Velocity, And MyTouch 4G Slide. Up until now, a few of those devices have never even received S-Off status. Now, though, thanks to a new method called JuopunutBear by the Unlimited Team, all of the aforementioned phones can become S-Off.

Before attempting to use JuopunutBear, you must unlock your device with HTC's official bootloader unlock tool.

Like with any new method on a hard-to-crack device, there are some caveats to be aware of. Firstly, this method will wipe the contents of the SD Card. Because of this, we strongly suggest using an SD card aside from your primary. If you don't have an extra, then make sure to perform a full backup of your card's content before starting this process.

Secondly, this process is more than just a software tweak. It actually requires what the Unlimited team refers to as the "wire trick" during the software flashing process. To get a better idea of what I'm talking about, here is a video of the exploit being performed on the HTC Vivid (since it's different for each device, the team has put together videos for each one):

If you feel confortable with doing something like that to your device, then you can find full instructions and downloads at the link below. If you do decided to give this a try, make sure to drop us a line in the comments and let us know how you fared.
