Out of all the giveaway/contests we do here at AP, my favorites always end up being the creative kinds because they always leave us with long-lasting memories and give a chance to truly talented people who put in work into their entries. Such were the photo, the Twitter design, t-shirt design, and most recently the 404 page design giveaways (the last one being my favorite).

The Contest

It's now time to launch another creative giveaway because 1) everyone likes free stuff and 2) we need banners.

Good banners. Creative banners. Banners we won't be embarrassed to give our partners and fans to put on their sites. Banners that would turn heads. You get the idea.

The goal, as before, is simple: make them creative, compelling eye-catching, cool, fun, clean, and/or funny. There is only one design requirement (it needs to be clear it's for Android Police in some way) - so feel free to go nuts on this one.

Helpful Guidelines

Here are some other helpful guidelines:

  • Upload a clear, high-resolution picture of your design to imgur.com and post a link to it in the comments (please use your actual e-mail in the comment form so that we can contact you). Please preserve your original file, as well (whatever the format may be - though we prefer PSD).
  • You can submit as many entries as you like - within reason.
  • As our logos, site elements, and fonts are subject to change (who knows - maybe we'll get a redesign one day), please try to avoid using existing artwork and make designs entirely original.
  • You may or may not include our slogan (Looking After All Things Android) or other phrases - it's entirely up to you.
  • The standard IAB sizes we are looking for are:
    • 125x125 square button
    • 300x250 medium rectangle
    • 300x100 3:1 rectangle
    • 468x60 full banner
    • 728x90 leaderboard -- preferred initial entry size
    • 160x600 skyscraper
  • You can enter with only one banner size, but if you submit extra sizes, they'll count as bonus points for your entry. If you submit all sizes (and your design rocks), you will get mega-uber brownie points, but to avoid potential time loss I would encourage to wait before submitting all sizes until you get some form of thumbs up from us via positive comments after we see your initial submission.
  • The grand prize winner must submit his or her design in all banner sizes we are looking for (as listed above), together with the PSD containing said designs before the prize is shipped.
  • You may only include clipart, photos, or other graphics which you have either created yourself, or those which fall under a Creative Commons License. We will not accept any entry that contains a copyrighted image or work. We are serious about plagiarism, and if we find you've used an image without permission, your entry will be disqualified until the offending material is removed - we have to do this because we've gotten submissions with material that was simply stolen before and don't want it to happen again.
  • Please do not submit an entry that uses a photo as its primary feature - it's a design contest, not a photo shoot.

So, what will the best submission get in return?

The Prize

As for our prize this time around, it's going to be the recently released Honeycomb Android tablet from Lenovo - the 32GB IdeaPad K1. You guys still like tablets, right?

Because the IdeaPad K1 will work anywhere, unlike the G2x in the previous contest, the contest is hereby open to all our usual international countries - not just U.S. (see the detailed list in the terms below).

The IdeaPad K1 is powered by the awesome dual-core Tegra 2 processor and sports the following specs:

  • 10.1 1280x800 display
  • 1GB RAM
  • 32GB on-board storage; SD Card slot
  • MicroHDMI
  • WiFi
  • Optional 3G (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint)
  • 5MP rear camera; 2MP front
  • Android 3.1

Because the tablet is powered by a Tegra 2 chip, you'll definitely want to check out NVIDIA's Tegra Zone site and Android app which feature awesome Tegra-optimized games you can install on this bad boy (big shout-out to NVIDIA for their sponsorship!).

This contest is now over. We have selected the winner - see if it's you here.

The contest will run until 11:59 p.m. September 18th, 2011 - a little over one week from today to give you plenty of time to prepare.

The winner will be chosen by the Android Police staff sometime after the contest end date. The winner will be decided based upon the quality, creativity, and originality of their submission - there will be no "random" decisions. Please remember this contest is judged on a totally subjective basis - we don't want any hurt feelings.

The winner will be required to permanently relinquish all interest in, rights to, and ownership of their submission to AndroidPolice.com as a condition for acceptance of the prize.

The contest is open to residents of the countries specified in the detailed terms and conditions below (not just U.S. - check the list to see if your country is there).

Multiple submissions are allowed within reason.

Again, please use your actual e-mail address in the comment form when making your submission.

NVIDIA and Android Police will ship the prize to the winner.

See the "Official Rules" below for the exact terms of the contest and eligibility requirements.

International entrants: Please ensure your country is listed in "1. Eligibility" of the Official Rules, and particularly remember that you will be responsible for any and all import duties, fees, taxes, or other costs (excluding the shipping carrier charge) associated with importing the device into your country, as indicated in "4. And now, show off your skills and good luck, everyone!
