UPDATE: The Gingerbread radio is apparently being linked to hard bricks. We have removed the link for the time being, until this issue is resolved, or a new radio version is leaked.

This morning 911Sniper dropped a leaked Gingerbread test build for the HTC Thunderbolt, but there was one issue: it wasn't flashable. Our buddy Justin Case from TeamAndIRC immediately took it to the lab and started dissecting its parts to see what needed to be done. When he returned, blood soaked and sweating, he delivered an amazing thing to us - a working Gingerbread ROM. Flashable, functional, and near-official, we offer this to you as download. Grab it, flash it, and let us know how it works out for you.

This is for rooted devices only!

It's worth noting that LTE has not been tested on this build, so if you live in an LTE area and decide to give this a go, let us know your results.

It can take upwards of 5 minutes for this ROM to flash, and 10 minutes for the first boot after flash. Please be patient!

In order for this ROM to function properly, the setup wizard had to be removed, so you will have to enter your account information in the Accounts & Sync setting menu

Installation Instructions:

  • Download both the ROM (0ba18ca101a0295df37bba36b562d210)and the radio (52dd83aa40e30186c9fbefafd1bab534).
  • Rename PG05IMG_gingerradio.zip to PG05IMG.zip and drop it onto the root of your SD Card.
  • Put mecha_gingerjane.zip onto the root of your SD Card
  • Boot into recovery
  • Do a Nandroid Backup!
  • Perform a factory reset
  • Flash mecha_gingerjane.zip, DO NOT REBOOT
  • Using ADB, reboot to bootloader
    • adb shell
    • reboot bootloader
  • If in fastboot mode, switch to bootloader mode and allow the updated radios to flash.
  • Enjoy!

UPDATE: For those that have already flashed this, you'll need to install this file in order to get package manager working again.

UPDATE 2: As of 2:00PM CST (12:00PM PST), the link to the original ROM download has been updated to include the package manager fix.
