The Fossil Group has just announced a ton of new Android Wear-based smartwatches at the Baselworld 2017 watch show, and the Diesel On is one of them. Although Diesel has made hybrid watches before, the On is Diesel's first Android Wear device. It's a pretty unique-looking one, too. Unfortunately, the press release is incredibly hollow, with little information, only one image, and nonsensical phrases. It's so bad that it's actually kinda hilarious. Read More
The Gear S3 Classic is probably one of my favorite smartwatches to date. The styling is great, Tizen isn't half-bad, and the rotating bezel is awesome. The only bummer for some was that Classic did not share the LTE connectivity option with its brother, the Frontier. Samsung has decided to rectify that, having just announced that the Classic will have an LTE-enabled version. Read More
In the world of technology, it's rare that a successor product is actually worse than the one that preceded it.
Today is a rare day.
The Huawei Watch 2 is a step backward - multiple steps, even - from the original, even if it does claw back some of that lost ground with new features. The Huawei Watch 2 adds NFC, GPS, LTE, and Android Wear 2.0 to its repertoire, which all sounds well and good. Alas, it all feels for naught when it comes down to the final product experience. What it takes away is almost everything that made the original the de facto champion of the Android Wear world. Read More
The time has come for another fashion company to get into Android Wear, and this time it's GUESS. The new watches are part of the Connect product line, but they're not the first smartwatches GUESS has sold. The last Connect was a mechanical watch with a dot-matrix ticker display. The new ones will be more what you expect from a smartwatch. Read More
An independent source has exclusively filled us in on the details of ZTE's upcoming and first Android Wear smartwatch, Quartz. We last heard about this watch when it passed through the FCC in February, but we now have some more information, and even a few pictures of it up-close. Read More
Android Wear devices mostly hover around $250-350, depending on the specs and features they offer. Tag Heuer has no use for "conventional" pricing. Its first watch, the Connected, was priced at $1,800. Now, the second one is a little more reasonable (but only a little). The Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 starts at $1,650. You can spend over $6,000 on one if you want. Read More
Having been on the Google Store just three and four months, respectively, the Michael Kors Access Bradshawn and Dylan smartwatches are no longer available from Google's online shop. Part of the Fossil Group, the Michael Kors Access line of Android Wear smartwatches were really little more than re-bodied versions of Fossil's latest Q-series watches with slightly different dimensions and battery specs. That they started at $350 probably didn't help things in the sales department.
The watches can still be found on the Michael Kors website, of course, but their removal from the Google Store probably means they're being wound down (no pun intended). Read More
If you're in the market for a fitness tracker, but all the new smartwatches floating around don't excite you, then you might want to check out the deal that Verizon is running. You can pick up the Gear Fit2 for $99.99, which is a nice savings of $80. Oh, and there's free shipping. Read More
I love watches and wear one all the time. So I was one of those who got really excited when the first smartwatches started hitting shelves, and I remain someone who likes them. I have owned a few Android Wear devices, a couple of Pebbles, and I've even tried out the Apple Watch and various iterations of Samsung's offerings over the years. What I have not tried, until now, is the so-called "hybrid smartwatch." Read More
The Watch Style is the lower-end of the two smartwatches LG has just released in conjunction with Google. It's not particularly handsome, it's not particularly feature-packed, and at $249, it's not particularly well-priced; however, it's still my favorite Android Wear smartwatch that I've used to date, and one that I think will strike well with the average consumer.
