Plex Cloud moves your media collection to Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive

I have been a happy Plex user for a few months now. I love being able to store my high-quality Blu-ray rips (from movies I own) locally, since I unfortunately have to deal with Comcast's 1TB bandwidth cap. But not everyone has an always-on PC that can transcode video fast enough for streaming at higher resolutions, and most of Plex's approved devices are pricey. Now Plex has announced Plex Cloud, a way to keep your media collection without the need for a local server.

Google's new Invisible reCAPTCHAs won't show a checkbox to humans

Various CAPTCHA systems have been in existence over the years, often as a source of frustration (and jokes) to actual humans trying to complete online forms. Google's own implementation, called reCAPTCHA V2, replaces the old squiggly-word boxes with a simple checkbox. Now the company is taking reCAPTCHA a step further, by ditching the checkbox all together - in most cases.

AutoVoice 3.0 adds Google Home, Amazon Echo integration and natural language commands to Tasker

Fellow long time Tasker users will be familiar with João Dias and his awesome AutoApps plugins. One of his most popular, and the one that I use the most, is AutoVoice. Basically, the plugin listens to and hijacks Google Now commands to trigger Tasker profiles — I had a simple one that would turn on my PC via Wake On LAN when I said "Okay, Google. Turn on my computer." Now v3.0 has been officially released and brings some awesome Home, Echo, and IFTTT integrations as well as natural language commands.

New Sonos PLAYBASE is a $699 soundbar TV base

Sonos makes some super expensive speakers. The name is the first that comes to mind when thinking about connected speakers, so much so that it's the first brand of speakers any company tries to support when it's entering some adjacent market in the smart home, connected home, or audio software/hardware space. While I doubt that I'd personally buy a Sonos speaker even if I had the money to spend on it, I know that a lot of people swear by their Sonos and would purchase more if they could. For those people, there's a new candidate in town vying for their wallet's wad of cash: the PLAYBASE.

Tomb Raider, the reboot originally released in 2013, is now available natively on the SHIELD TV

Lara Croft has been raiding tombs, pillaging pyramids, gutting graveyards, burgling burial chambers, robbing resting places, and knocking over necropoli for over twenty years now. If you're feeling nostalgic, you can play the original action-adventure PC game, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, on just about any Android phone. But if you'd like a more recent and fresh take on the series, there's the 2013 reboot-slash-prequel. Originally released on the PC, PS3, and Xbox One, it's the latest full console game that NVIDIA has coaxed into working on its SHIELD TV powerhouse. It's available now on the Play Store for $15. Note that this is a local, native Android game, not a streaming release on GeForce NOW (though the game is also available in that format).

WalletHub is the newest free credit score Android app that brings a lot to the table for debt management

Your credit score is one of those things that's really annoying, but very critical to surviving in our economy (like it or not). Regardless of whether that number is something to be proud or ashamed of, you definitely need to keep an accurate idea of where it sits. That's where WalletHub comes in, the newest kid on the Android block to offer you a free peek at your score. The company has been around for a few years, but its app does so much more with the catch of being completely free.

Shadowmatic

Android Police coverage: Shadowmatic is a gorgeous puzzle game of space and silhouettes

Shadowmatic took its sweet, sweet time coming to Android, but the game is so pretty I'm minded to forgive it. It's extremely simple: spin and tilt one or more 3D shapes floating in the air to get the shadow to form the shape desired.

Blue Ella review: Incredible planar headphones that can go anywhere

Blue is a company famous for its studio microphones, but their more recent foray into headphones has not disappointed me. 2015's Lolas were my favorite to date, though I also quite liked the powered Mo-Fis. But what I have here are easily Blue's most ambitious headphones yet: Ella, and she has me absolutely head over heels - this is pure planar magnetic bliss.

If you're not familiar with the term, planar magnetic headphones are a subtype of over-ear monitors that vibrate a series of membranes and strata in a conceptually similar way a traditional dynamic driver does a "voice coil" - using electricity and magnets to drive a moving element attached to a diaphragm that then produces sound.

Shadowmatic is a gorgeous puzzle game of space and silhouettes

Simple, straightforward puzzle games are du jour on mobile platforms, but that doesn't mean they can't be visually impressive. Shadowmatic from developer Triada Studios is a great example. This puzzler uses basic principles of light and spatial arrangement as elements of its brain-teasers, challenging players to correctly align floating objects and create perfect silhouettes. The game is also visually stunning, using its 3D lighting effects and an essential element of the gameplay.
