As a tech writer, I have lots of gadgets. Smartphones, tablets, and all sorts of other fun stuff. Because of this, new accessories aren't something that I'm often super-impressed with. Every once in a while, though, a new product lands in my hands that really is more than I expected. Thus is the case with the FIXIE tablet stand from Incipio ($40).

I know what you're thinking: "wait, you were impressed with...

It's very difficult to review something like the Tablet Claw. For starters, my first instinct is to make the entire thing one big Inspector Gadget joke. Then there's the fact that I have no idea why anyone would need this. The Tablet Claw is a device that you slide your tablet into, and a little plastic piece that kind of looks like the tab you open soda cans with (called a "ringlet", apparently) folds out and gives you a way to grip your tablet.

We've been talking about Chameleon Launcher for a few months now, and despite getting off to a bit of a rocky start, the beta is now officially available for some testers and Kickstarter backers. I've spent the last several days playing with the launcher on a couple different tablets, and, despite the fact that it's still in beta, have been generally impressed.

For the unaware, Chameleon is a new type of launcher designed specifically for Android 3.0+ tablets.

This is the latest in our Weekend Poll series. For last week's, see In A Perfect World, Who Would Manufacture The Next Nexus Phone?

Back in November - in the early days of true Android tablets - we ran a poll to see what you considered the ideal tablet screen size. The majority (47%) of you said roughly 10"; at the time, that was largely all there was to choose from, so an understandable result.

It's that time of year again: time to start gearing up to head back to school (which everyone loves, right?). This is the time of year when people are in the market for new gadgets: laptops, cameras, tablets, smartphones... the normal stuff.

If you're an Android loyalist, though, trying to find the right tablet or smartphone for yourself or your child can be a daunting task. Good thing we're here to help.

Ever since the Nexus 7 was first announced, it has been in "ships soon" status on the Play Store. No matter how many times you F5'd it, nothing changed (don't lie - you know you did it). Then, a few days ago Google confirmed that pre-ordered N7s had started shipping. Heck, you could even walk in to some retailers and buy one. But if you're one of those Play Store purists (do those really exist?) the time has come: the 8GB Nexus 7 is now available directly from El Goog itself.

I love Evernote. In fact, I don't go a single day without using it. And today, I love it even more. The Evernote Team just pushed an update to the Android app that makes it even more useful on tablets by introducing an all-new user interface.

Here's what I love about it: the old interface was good. It was functional and intuitive, I had no complaints. But the new interface is better and more intuitive.

You thought you knew everything there was to know about the Nexus 7? Well, you thought wrong. A curious owner of the device started doing what any totally rational person does with a brand-new tablet: expose it to magnetic forces. The results yielded an as-yet hidden feature in the Nexus 7, in the form a magnetic smart cover sensor. Simply take a magnet and put it up against the front or back of your Nexus 7 along the bottom left-hand side while in portrait mode with the display on, and you can see the effect for yourself.

Android tablets, for the last year plus they've existed, haven't been anything to get excited over. At least that's my opinion on the matter. And even if you've wanted one (a good one), most of them have been sort of expensive. But now that Google has unveiled the first true Nexus tablet (XOOM who?), for a mere 200 of your dollars, you can get in on the computing revolution.
