Could This Possibly Be The Samsung Galaxy S III?

Samsung has been holding on somewhat tightly to any details of its highly anticipated upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S III. We've heard a few ridiculous rumors here and there over the past several weeks, but today's "leak" looks to be the most believable thus far - either that, or a masterfully created hoax.

As pointed out in this thread on Reddit, there are many aspects of this leak worth pointing out, beginning with the biggest hints of all: the date in the calendar and location in the weather widget. If these are to be believed, then we'll be looking for a Samsung Unpacked event in London, England on May 22 at 6:00PM to be the likely GSIII announcement date.

[Rumor Smash] Official: Samsung Galaxy S II Will Be Updated To Ice Cream Sandwich On A Day That Definitely Isn't March 10th

We'd heard whispers that the Galaxy S II might be getting an update to Android 4.0 on March 10th. After the announcement was immediately yanked from Samsung's site, we were skeptical. It turns out those suspicions were confirmed tonight via Samsung's official Twitter account. The date was errantly posted by Samsung's Filipino arm.

While the SGSII may not be receiving its update tomorrow, this does at least let us know that Samsung is working on it. Not that we really doubted, but after nearly four months, it's nice to hear some official word, even if it took an internet rumor to get it.

[Rumor] 16GB Galaxy Nexus And Droid Incredible 3 Coming To Verizon On April 5 and 26th, Respectively

Hot on the heels of this weekend's LG Cayman (now called the Lucid 4G) and Droid Fighter release date leak comes rumors of yet another set of release dates for some new VZW hotness. This go around is a 16GB version of the Galaxy Nexus - presumably in both white and black - set to hit on April 4th for all those folks who are convinced that 32GB is just too much storage, or perhaps those who just can't justify the price tag but still want to get in on some of that Nexus action.

Aside from the GNex, the latest iteration of the Droid Incredible line, the Droid Incredible 3 4G is expected to hit on April 26th.

Samsung Says Galaxy S III Launch Date Rumors Are Untrue, Won't Even Confirm It's Called The Galaxy S III

It's always strange to see a company directly comment on rumors about its own products, but Samsung doesn't seem to take issue with it, as a statement they made to The Verge late last night confirms.

The latest speculation Samsung has cracked down on has been in regard to the Galaxy S III, stemming from a ZDNet Korea article that indicated the device would be unveiled next month. Here's the rough Google translation of the original tweet from Samsung's Korean arm regarding the issue:

Holy cow. The Android version name rumor-mill has been cranking at full steam for the last couple of months, and everyone seems pretty well-convinced that Jelly Bean is the chosen title for Google's next iteration of the mobile operating system. Way back in September, The Verge suggested that a "reliable source" had told them Jelly Bean was the real McCoy. Let's talk about what we know about Google's naming strategy so far with Android, and why anything but Jelly Bean would make almost no sense.

First, what names have there been? Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich.

[Rumor] Is Sprint Getting Its Own Variant Of The HTC One X (Or Something Eerily Similar) Codenamed 'Jewel'?

While HTC just officially announced the One X at Mobile World Congress and AT&T shotgunned exclusive rights in the U.S. to the beast for its LTE network (albeit packing a Krait chip instead of the Tegra 3), there's now a rumor floating around that Sprint could be getting a device similar to the One X, codenamed the Jewel.

Details on the Jewel are scarce right now, but rumor has it that the device is packing a large HD display (similar to the One X) and should be one of the flagship devices on Sprint's upcoming LTE network. Pocketnow, who was originally tipped about this device, goes as far as to speculate that this device could be released as the "EVO LTE" - an idea that makes perfect sense considering the EVO 4G helped usher in Sprint's WiMax network.

[Rumor] Sprint Adds Los Angeles To List Of Planned Network Vision/LTE Markets For 2012

Just a few days after allegedly adding its NYC market to the list of 2012 LTE rollout locations, Sprint has evidently begun planning to light up the Los Angeles Metro area by the end of 2012 as well.

Sprint's Los Angeles Metro market currently spans all of Los Angeles County, including Avalon and Santa Catalina. According to S4GRU, Orange County, North LA, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Diego, and Lower Central Valley are included in different markets, and are expected to deploy some time after Los Angeles.

S4GRU also notes that while converting the necessary sites to Network Vision standards will take over 8 months, individual sites will be activated on a monthly basis, meaning customers who purchase Sprint's first round of 4G LTE-enabled devices will still have a chance of enjoying enhanced data speeds.

Oh, Google. You know just how to get our attention. If you're not planting giant statues on your front lawn, you're giving your guests tasty treats with a wink. At Google's ~~theme park~~ MWC booth, the company has set up bowls of jelly beans that are, according to sources close to the matter, "delicious." What we're really after, though, is details on Google's next OS version of the same name. Could this mean we're going to hear about it?

As far as rumors go, a bowl of candy is pretty low on the list of sources we tend to get our stories from.

[Rumor] Possible Galaxy S III Leaked Specs Strain Credulity: 1.5GHz Quad-Core Exynos Processor And 1080p Display

Grab your salt-shakers, people, this one's a doozy. According to BGR, their "trusted sources", whom we heard from a while back, have leaked a few extra details regarding the alleged HD screen and quad-core processor. Apparently the rumored quad-core processor will be a Samsung Exynos, clocked to 1.5GHz, tucked underneath an astonishing 4.8" 1080p display.

Here's the full list of specs, according to BGR's sources:

1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor
4.8-inch “full HD” 1080p resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio display
A 2-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera
Ceramic case
4G LTE
Android 4.0

While most of these specs sound perfectly reasonable and even expected (a Galaxy S III launching without LTE or ICS would be unacceptable), we're a little skeptical of some of these specs.

[Rumor] Sprint Planning To Light Up NYC Market With Network Vision/LTE In 2012

Sprint's list of 2012 LTE rollout markets (confirmed or otherwise) seems to be growing by the minute. Last week, it was revealed that construction was beginning in the San Francisco Bay Area, headed for official activation by the end of 2012. Today, S4GRU revealed that NYC may also be on the list of 2012 markets, explaining that Sprint is not likely to announce second or third-round markets because there is no way to accurately determine when activations will occur.

Currently, Sprint's NYC market spans all the city's boroughs, plus Westchester, and the Hudson Valley, extending up to Saugerties. S4GRU explains that Long Island and southern Connecticut are in separate markets, set to deploy later.
