[Update: Hands-On Video] Toshiba Announces The Excite X10 For The U.S., Available Sometime In Q1

Update: Here's our hands-on with the Excite x10 (note: we misstated that the processor is a Snapdragon S4, it's actually a TI OMAP4430 - we blame Toshiba's open bar):

It's no secret that Toshiba's first attempt at an Android tablet was on the receiving end of a decent amount of criticism for its less-than-ideal size, so the company decided to super-model up its newest offering to the world, the Excite X10.

Toshiba Thrive 7 Review: Less Like The Original Than You Might Think - But That's A Good Thing

The Toshiba Thrive and I don't exactly have a great history. And that's probably putting it mildly. In fact, in my first review of Toshiba's first Tegra 2 tablet (yes, I had to write a second one) earlier this year, I panned it so hard that I basically just started textually abusing the poor thing. So, at the behest of commenters and colleagues, I rewrote it. Android 3.2 For The Toshiba Thrive Now Available

Thrive owners, grab your slate and start checking for updates -- Android 3.2 is now available. The bump in Android version is the nuts-and-bolts of this update, along with improved screen rotation speed.

The changelog also notes that the YouTube and Android Market widgets may disappear after installing the update due to "a change in the application naming convention," but they can simply be added back.

So, hit the update app, cross your fingers, and hope it all works out better for the Thrive than it did the Galaxy Tab 10.1
