<p>Toshiba is kind of all over the place when it comes to Android. It has released <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/07/04/toshiba-excite-7-7-tag-team-review-the-best-tablet-youll-never-buy/" target="_blank">some absolutely fantastic hardware</a> in the past, but the lack of support for said hardware is awfully damning when it comes to recommending its devices in good conscience. </p>
<p>Still, it looks like the company is knee-deep in the development of a new tablet, which is currently being called the "AT10LE-A," and is said to be powered by NVIDIA's newest baby – the upcoming Tegra 4. While this isn't <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/02/20/zte-and-nvidia-team-up-to-bring-the-first-tegra-4-superphone-to-market-by-the-end-of-q2-2103/" target="_blank">the first device we've heard about with T4 roots</a>, it is the first tablet leak we've seen thus far.<div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/03/upcoming-tegra-4-powered-toshiba-at10le-a-tablet-leaks-shows-off-android-4-2-1-and-a-keyboard-dock/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></p><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post? <p>Hot on the heels of the <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/12/26/toshiba-excite-7-7-jelly-bean-update-rolling-out-now/">Jelly Bean update for the Excite 7.7</a>, Toshiba is also pushing the OTA to its larger brother, the Excite 10. Reports are scattered and details are pretty scant at the moment, but we <em>have</em> confirmed that it's rolling out now. </p>
<p>It appears that the OTA – which brings Android 4.1.1 – is being pushed in stages to both the AT300 and AT305. You can see if it's available on your device by heading into Settings &#62; About Tablet &#62; System Updates or by jumping directly into Toshiba's Service Station. </p>
<p>Happy Pulling!</p>
<p><em>Thanks, Tiffany!</em></p>

<p>Given Toshiba's track record with Android updates, I thought I'd never get to write this post. Alas, here it is – Android 4.1.1 is officially rolling out to the Excite 7.7. At first blush, it looks like Toshiba did a good job on this one. It actually uses the new "hybrid UI" (like on the Nexus 7), which leads to a much better experience on smaller slates like the 7.7.</p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://cdn.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/nexusae0_Screenshot_2012-12-26-18-20-27.png"><img style="display: inline" title="Screenshot_2012-12-26-18-20-27" alt="Screenshot_2012-12-26-18-20-27" src="http://cdn.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/nexusae0_Screenshot_2012-12-26-18-20-27_thumb.png" width="668" height="418"/></a></p>
<p>The update clocks in at a cool 348MB, so be prepared to wait for just a bit to grab this Jelly Bean goodness. Past that, though, I see absolutely nothing to complain about – this update really does make a great tablet even better.<div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/12/26/toshiba-excite-7-7-jelly-bean-update-rolling-out-now/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></p><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post? <p>When it comes to Android tablets, Toshiba hasn't really been the "brand to buy," so to speak. It's not that they put out <em>bad</em> hardware, because that's simply not the case - the Excite 7.7 is <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/07/04/toshiba-excite-7-7-tag-team-review-the-best-tablet-youll-never-buy/">one of the best Android tablets I've ever used</a>. It's that they don't promote - or more importantly, support - devices <em>after</em> release. </p>
<p>Case in point: today, the company has announced a new member to its Excite line, the 10" Excite SE. This makes the <em>third</em> 10" tablet in its Excite line, with the Excite 10 and Excite 10 LE coming before. While the latter of those is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm chip, the former is using the quad-core Tegra 3.<div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/12/04/toshiba-intros-new-tegra-3-powered-excite-se-10-tablet-with-jelly-bean-4-1-we-wonder-why-they-even-bother/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></p><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post? <p>Last month, owners of Toshiba's 10-inch Thrive tablet were dealt a blow when the manufacturer announced that the tablet's official update to Ice Cream Sandwich <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/06/22/toshiba-delays-android-4-0-update-for-thrive-and-thrive-7-to-early-fall-5th-of-never/">would be delayed</a> to "early Fall." This news came several months after Toshiba <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/02/22/toshiba-thrive-10-1-and-7-to-get-android-4-0-at-the-end-of-spring/">had initially indicated</a> an "end of Spring" release target for the update. </p>
<p>After all of that, it appears that the Thrive is <em>finally</em> receiving its update to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich today – for real this time. The update, which users report taking around 30 minutes to download, is rolling out automatically now.</p>

<p>Just over a week ago, Aaron and I (Cameron) each received a review unit of the Excite 7.7. While I will largely be taking the reigns on this one, Aaron wanted to throw in his thoughts as well. Thus, while the bulk of the review was written exclusively by me, you'll also see his (clearly labeled) thoughts at the bottom of every section.</p>
<p><strong>Cameron: </strong>I have to be honest: after using the <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/05/15/toshiba-excite-10-review-dont-let-the-name-fool-you-its-just-another-tablet/" target="_blank">Excite 10</a> and coming away feeling "meh" about it, I didn't have high hopes for its little brother. However, after spending the past week with the Excite 7.7, I have been blown away time and time again.<div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/07/04/toshiba-excite-7-7-tag-team-review-the-best-tablet-youll-never-buy/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></p><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post? <p>As the person that reviewed both of these devices, the <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/07/16/toshiba-thrive-honeycomb-tablet-re-review-lets-try-this-again/">Thrive</a> and <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/12/17/toshiba-thrive-7-review-less-like-the-original-than-you-might-think-but-thats-a-good-thing/">Thrive 7</a>, here at Android Police, I felt something of a responsibility to post on this matter. On <a href="http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/THRiVE-Tablets/ICS-for-THRiVE-Status-Update/td-p/305392">its community forums</a>, a Toshiba rep issued the following statement on the status of the Ice Cream Sandwich update for its Thrive tablets:</p>
<div class="fancy_blockquote"><blockquote><div class="quote_left"></div><p>We are working hard to bring Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich to our Thrive tablets. While we originally estimated it would be ready this spring, we now estimate the update will be delivered to all Thrive 10” and 7” tablets by early fall. Apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.</p></blockquote><div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/06/22/toshiba-delays-android-4-0-update-for-thrive-and-thrive-7-to-early-fall-5th-of-never/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></div><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post? <p>The Tegra 3 tablet battle is in full swing now, with four full-featured tablets on the market at the current moment (ASUS Transformer Prime, Transformer Pad 300, and Acer Iconia Tab A510 being the other three). Today, we're going to take a look at the newest one of the bunch: the Toshiba Excite 10. This is the first device to come out of Toshiba's newly announced Excite line, with 7.7" and 13.3" models coming in early June. </p>
<p>Toshiba has come a long way and changed up its philosophy on Android tablets quite a bit since the original Thrive, but is it enough to take the Tegra 3-tablet-crown?<div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/05/15/toshiba-excite-10-review-dont-let-the-name-fool-you-its-just-another-tablet/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></p><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post? <p><em>Go big or go home.</em> That must be Toshiba's new mantra where tablets are concerned, as it just announced a trio of Ice Cream Sandwich-packin', Tegra 3-powered additions to its Excite tablet line: a 7.7-inch, 10.1-inch, and 13.3-inch model. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://cdn.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/6902379508_94f14b9de2_o.jpg"><img style="display: inline" title="6902379508_94f14b9de2_o" alt="6902379508_94f14b9de2_o" src="http://cdn.androidpolice.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/6902379508_94f14b9de2_o_thumb.jpg" width="668" height="536"/></a></p>
<p>The 7.7-inch model, appropriately named the Excite 7.7, sports a 1280x800 AMOLED display, the quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and Ice Cream Sandwich. At just 0.3-inches thick and 13.4 ounces, the Excite 7.7 is a powerhouse in a tiny package. </p>

<p>Stepping it up a notch (in terms of size, anyway), comes Toshiba's 10.1-inch offering, the Excite 10. This one is the more "traditional" tablet (if there is such a thing), sporting a 1280x800 display resolution, 10-finger multi-touch support, the Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and ICS.<div class=clear></div> <a href="http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/04/10/toshiba-announces-new-excite-line-for-the-u-s-say-hello-to-the-7-7-10-1-and-13-3-inch-slates/" class="read_more"><div class=excerpt-end><img src=http://www.androidpolice.com/wp-content/themes/ap1/images/read_on.png /></div></a></p><div style='clear: both'><b>Done With This Post?
