Sprint And Samsung Delay GRJ90 Update For Nexus S 4G, Pull EF09 Update For Transform

July 11th has come and gone, but owners of the Samsung Nexus S 4G still haven't received the bug-fixing, NFC-enhancing GRJ90 update that was supposed to begin its rollout yesterday. Well thanks to Android Central, we now have an idea of why this is so:

Also noteworthy is the bottom half of that screenshot - specifically, the two bullet points about the Samsung Transform and its EF09 update, which began rolling out about a week ago but has now been pulled.

Not great news, but hopefully Sprint and Samsung will be able to address the issues soon and reinstate the updates quickly.

Official word from Asus is that they can't make enough Transformers to keep up with demand, something that's perhaps not surprising given that the tablet maintains high-end specs but a low-end price. Luckily for some users, keeping a hawkish eye on (r)etailer's websites has allowed them to snatch one up when the seller was lucky enough to get a few in stock. Now, however, there's an easier way, called NowInStock.

The service keeps tabs on a whole host of retailers and checks the stock situation every minute so that it's always up to date. Not only that, but as you can see, it shows the specific model and the price - impressive.

Still Waiting For Froyo On Samsung Epic 4G And Transform? Circle Monday, March 21st On Your Calendar (EB28, EC05)

According to one of our trusted tippers and backed up by a leak that surfaced earlier today at Android Central, Samsung Epic 4G and Transform owners will be finally getting a taste of Android 2.2 "Froyo" in 4 days - on Monday, March 21st.

It wouldn't be the first time Sprint tried to throw the delicious treat at Epic users - the long-awaited Froyo update began rolling out on February 21st but only lasted 3 days before getting shut down by Sprint due to multiple complications with SD cards and data connectivity. Froyo's most coveted features, such as push notifications, native apps2sd, and Adobe Flash support, plunged into an abyss of unknown depth yet again for those who didn't get a chance to upgrade.

Amazon Wireless Finally Starts Selling Sprint Phones

One of the best places to buy your next Android smartphone is, undoubtedly, Amazon.com, due to its excellent customer service, aggressive pricing, abundance of conveniently placed user reviews, lack of tax, and free shipping. Even better, a few months ago, Amazon opened up a dedicated Amazon Wireless store to concentrate on competitively selling  cell phones and service, including support for existing customer upgrades, family plans, and much more competitive deals.

One obvious omission in the Amazon Wireless store has been a complete lack of Sprint devices and plans. Sprint support was said to be coming for months, and while Sprint phones were available on Amazon.com itself, AmazonWireless.com remained Sprint-free, which means no aggressive pricing, support for existing line upgrades, or family plans.

Sanyo Zio And Samsung Transform Now Hitting Sprint Shelves

The first two of Sprint's latest three-phone, mid-range lineup are now arriving to various Sprint retailers, such as Best Buy, sprint.com, Wirefly.com, and others. While they aren't the powerhouses that we've gotten used to, the Sanyo Zio and the Samsung Transform are good introductory-level Android devices for people who want to dump their feature phones for smartphones without having to shell out the big bucks. They are joining the ranks of Sprint's other low-to-mid-range phones, such as the Samsung Intercept and the HTC Hero.

Android Goes Cheap - LG Optimus S ($49), Sanyo Zio ($99), And Samsung Transform ($149) Officially Headed To Sprint, Feature New Sprint ID Service

If anyone needed any more evidence that Android wasn't created exclusively for us power users who insist on having the latest and greatest, Sprint's latest announcements should be enough to convince even the most doubtful - the nation's third largest carrier just announced three new Android budget Android devices: the LG Optimus S, the Sanyo Zio, and the Samsung Transform. The first of those three devices will go on sale starting October 31, while the latter two will be available from October 10 forward.

The LG Optimus S is the cheapest of the bunch, costing a mere $49, although I'm sure WireFly will be carrying it for free before too long.
