Skype For Android Updated To 2.7.0.907, With Updated Call Interface, Epic 4G Touch Compatibility In Tow

Skype, a hugely practical video (and internet) calling solution, got an update today, bringing the app to version 2.7.0.907 and bringing a few key improvements to the table. The most noticeable improvement in this release is an updated (and enhanced) call interface, adding functionality and panache to the screen every user sees when placing or receiving a call.

Besides an updated call screen, the latest release also adds much-needed video call compatibility with Samsung's Epic 4G Touch (Sprint's version of the Galaxy SII), as well as enhanced call quality.

ClockworkMod Touch Recoveries Now Out For All Flavors Of Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G; Motorola Cliq; LG Optimus Black, 2X, 3D; HTC Rezound, G2, MT4G

The work to bring touch-enabled recoveries to all supported ClockworkMod devices continues, and since the last update a couple of days ago, the following devices now have ClockworkMod Touch available:

[Poll] Is Your Samsung Epic 4G Touch Plagued With GPS Issues?

While it seems like the entire world has been looking at ASUS regarding the Transformer Prime's GPS issues, there has been another device plagued with GPS problems that seemed to somehow remain under-the-radar (bad GPS pun, I know): the Epic 4G Touch. Samsung Epic 4G Touch Receiving An OTA Update To Build EL29 - Brings Bug Fixes, Removes Carrier IQ

Last week, Sprint rolled out OTA updates that removed Carrier IQ, as well as providing various other bug fixes and enhancements to a few different devices. The Samsung Epic 4G Touch is on the receiving end of a similar update beginning today, with the full rollout finishing its run within 10 days.

Here are the details:

  • Security update (read: Carrier IQ removal)
  • Dismissing multiple calendar alerts
  • Commercial Alert System (CMAS) activated

To see if the update is available on your device, head into the Settings menu > About phone > System updates > Update Android.

[Update: Pictures Of The Nexus Added] Two New White Samsung Phones Coming Down The Pike: The Epic 4G Touch And Galaxy Nexus (GSM)

There's no doubt that white phones are (generally) sexy. We know this, and it seems that manufacturers are starting to catch on as well. HTC has a few white phones available, and Samsung has already pushed out a couple of white variations of the GSII on T-Mobile and AT&T. Looks like Sprint's GSII, the Epic 4G Touch, is now getting the snow-capped makeover that we heard about a few weeks ago, and will be available on January 8th for $200 with a two-year agreement.

Sprint's Galaxy SII Variant (Epic 4G Touch) Appears With Flattering White Paint Job

Following the example set by AT&T and T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy SII variants, Sprint's Epic 4G Touch is set to get its own white counterpart, probably in early 2012. Pocket Now speculates that the Epic 4G Touch's white version may be announced at CES.

[Updated] Minor Update (Build EK02) Rolling Out The The Samsung Epic 4G Touch, Fixes Loss Of Service Issues

Update: If your device received the update but didn't successfully install it, a fix is on the way. There's no official word as to when it will be available, but they're shooting for sometime next week.

Looks like Sprint started pushing a small OTA update to the Samsung Epic 4G Touch that fixes a couple of quirky issues:

  • 4G Sprint Hotspot disconnects when in a phone call
  • Radio loses signal and may require power cycle

The update is rolling out in stages and will hit all devices within the next 10 days.
