Winners Selected - congratulations to [DC]_MAKER!

Want a chance to win a brand-new Galaxy S III from AT&T and Android Police? Today, you can! As part of the 'It Can Wait' campaign, we're giving away a red AT&T Galaxy S III complete with an anti-texting and driving accessory pack.

It Can Wait

Texting and driving is bad. You shouldn't do it. AT&T agrees, and to date, they've managed to get over a million people to sign a pledge promising not to text and drive.

It's been a long time coming, hasn't it owners of AT&T Galaxy Tab 8.9's (SGH-i957)? All other variants of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9 have been sporting Ice Cream Sandwich for weeks - even months in some situations. And it's finally your turn. I'm genuinely happy for you. Seriously. I am. You waited it out, and you deserve this.

But here's the thing: the update isn't coming OTA. Instead, you'll have to pull this one through Samsung's proprietary Kies application.

Verizon_Camera_Blk_right.jpg

AT&T has already launched its version of the Galaxy Camera, so now it's Verizon's turn. Arriving in both white and black options, the nation's largest carrier will be offering the high tech point and shoot for $550 without a contract. This is a little bit steeper than AT&T's $500, but to make up for it, the carrier is allowing customers to add this device to their existing shared data plans for $5/month.

GALAXY Note II Product Image_Key Visual

I have to say, Samsung is on a roll with the updates lately. First, they started pushing 4.1.2 to the international variant of the GSIII in Poland, and now 4.1.2 is on its way to the unlocked international Note II (GT-7100) and Note II LTE (GT-7105). According to SamMobile, this update brings quite a few new features to the Note II, including:

  • New notification toggles
  • Customizable notification toggles
  • Brightness slider can now be disabled
  • The ability to disable Multi-View
  • Browser improvements
  • Status bar is now black
  • Continuous input keyboard
  • New ink effect on lockscreen
  • New Group Cast app

Like the SIII's update, this one is starting in Poland for the GT-7100, and it looks like users in Sweden will be the first to get it on the GT-7105.

Hi, everyone. I'd like to introduce you to the Samsung Muse. This is a music player with no screen and a mere 4GB of storage that requires a phone with music on it in order to sync. It costs $50 and is going on sale in the U.S. soon. Why is this handy little thingy going to be made available here? Because screw you, that's why.

'What is this device?' you ask?

After our review, the Galaxy Camera may not be high on your wishlist this holiday season, but if you're set on Samsung's smartphone-meet-camera mashup, and AT&T's HSPA+ version isn't quick enough for your fast-paced shutterbug lifestyle, you may be in luck: it looks like the Verizon Galaxy Camera is for real.

A Samsung product page appears to have inadvertently gone live for the device (model EK-GC120), boasting Verizon's 4G LTE connectivity, along with everything else the standard Galaxy Camera does.

GALAXY S III Product Image (8)_B

While the majority of Galaxy S III owners on U.S. carriers are still waiting to get the Android 4.1.1 update, those with unlocked handsets in Poland are already receiving the Android 4.1.2 OTA. This update brings more than just a Jelly Bean point release, though; it also comes with a host of new features:

  • Multi-Window (a la Note II)
  • Page Buddy
  • New Gallery app (also from the Note II)
  • Customizable Notification panel
  • Smart rotation
  • Swype-like keyboard
  • Paper Artist app
  • ...and more

The update is rolling out in phases over the air right now, and is also being made available via Kies.

Amazon just did some price slashing on a scale we rarely see, cutting costs for all sorts of new smartphones across the board. Hit up the list to see what's up for grabs. All of these deals are for both new customers and upgrades.

One X+ (AT&T) - $139.99 ($70 savings)

What more can you say about the One X+ than it's a One X but better? 64GB of internal storage, LTE, and Android 4.1, all on the most beautiful smartphone display I've ever seen.

Samsung-Galaxy-S-III

Sprint and T-Mobile might have beaten the big boys to the punch, but now it's AT&T's turn to get its Galaxy S III updated to (almost) the latest and greatest version of Android. The 4.1.1 update has started showing up for users of the AT&T Galaxy S III (that's the SGH-i747) in the Samsung Kies update and sync software.

Update 12/4/2012: AT&T just announced the update, and it looks like it will indeed be coming only via Kies.
