Samsung Announces An Unpacked Event For NYC August 13th

After rumors that Samsung may be turning the clock ahead on the Galaxy Note 5, the manufacturer has distributed invitations to an Unpacked event in New York City on August 13th.

Samsung says "The next Galaxy is coming," which presumably does refer to the flagship phablet (and potentially the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus). If we do see the Note 5, the event will mark a departure from Samsung's usual announcement venue at IFA in Berlin.

Whatever happens, we'll be there to get a look at what Samsung unpacks. For those who aren't at the event, it will be live-streamed on the SamsungMobile YouTube channel starting at 11am Eastern.

Samsung Shows Off A Desktop Monitor With A Built-In Qi Wireless Charging Pad

Samsung makes some really cool monitors. Aside from looking nicer than your usual plastic-wrapped panels, they have versions with 4K resolution, curved screens, and advanced gaming sync tech. And now they've got one with a built in wireless charging port for your Samsung phone. Well, it'll work with any phone with Qi-compatible wireless charging. But I'm sure they'd prefer you to use it with a Samsung phone, preferably a new flagship model bought at full price.

The SE370 comes in 23.6-inch and 27-inch versions, and includes a little circular pad on the base that can charge a Qi-enabled phone or tablet.

Judging from everything we've heard about these two devices, the photos appear to be legit. Ultimately what we see are two handsets that look like larger versions of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

[Deal Alert] AT&T Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge On Sale For Just $599 On Ebay, $200 Off Retail

The Galaxy S6 Edge may be the prettiest and most futuristic device ever made by Samsung. The two things that really set it apart from the normal S6 are the sexy curved screen on the front, and the sizeable price bump of $100 or more.

Today though, you can pick up the S6 Edge for considerably less than a standard S6. Ebay has the unlocked AT&T version of the S6 Edge on sale for the lowest ever price of $599, a full $70 less than the last time we posted about it. Cheaper and sexier? Nice.

Being unlocked, this device will work just fine on AT&T and T-Mobile as well as many other GSM carriers.

[Weekend Poll] Would The Loss Of An SD Card And Removable Battery Make You Less Likely To Buy A Galaxy Note 5?

While far from completely definite, strong rumors abound that the Galaxy Note 5 will not have a removable battery or an SD card slot. Given that the phone is suspected to essentially be a giant Galaxy S6 with a stylus, that makes sense.

What may not make sense is the continued allure of the Note series of devices if this is true, at least among you - people who read Android Police. The stylus isn't without value to some users (I, personally, have never been one of them), but the flexibility of a removable battery and expandable storage have long made the Note series the all-around power user device of choice among Android fans.
