After a very long wait for owners of the AT&T variants of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, they are finally getting updated to Android 5.1.1. This is in large part due to the upcoming launch of Samsung Pay on September 28th. Most other current generation Samsung devices needed some updates to be prepped for Samsung Pay and most carriers have issued them over the past day or so. Read More
Vodafone UK announced its own Wi-Fi Calling service earlier this month, but support remains extremely limited. As of right now, the only devices listed are the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Fortunately that's about to change, though not by much. Android compatibility is coming in the form of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Read More
We've seen a number of good deals on the standard Galaxy S6 since it was released earlier this year, but the Edge variant pops up less frequently. It's a little more expensive to start with, but today you can get a 32GB GS6 Edge for just $499.99. It's around $600 elsewhere. Read More
Earlier this month we saw the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 available for $215, a significant discount from its usually high price. This brought it down to only slightly less than what the 8-inch model typically costs. Except now folks in the US can pick up the latter on eBay for even less. Read More
Samsung has been working with Oculus for a few years, but the pair just reached a new milestone in their collaboration. There's a new Gear VR coming, and it's the first "consumer-ready" version of the hardware. It'll work with all 2015 flagship Samsung phones. Oh, and it's going to sell for a much more reasonable $99.
If you're looking for a relatively cheap tablet with access to the Verizon network... well, then you probably already own one of those Ellipsis things. But if you want one with an actual name brand behind it, Samsung would like a word. The company just released the Galaxy Tab E, a tablet that hasn't been seen in the US before today, on Verizon. You can get one for $329.99 outright, not bad for an LTE tablet, or just under $14 a month for two years on the installment plan.
In terms of hardware, the Galaxy Tab E sits somewhere between the low-end Tab A series and the top-of-the-line Tab S2. Read More
Man, the Galaxy S6 may not have the sex appeal of its more expensive brother the S6 Edge, but what it lacks in looks it is certainly making up for in value. Currently, you can buy an unlocked 32GB S6 in black, white, or gold for just $430 at Monoprice's store on eBay. This beats the previous best price we've seen by a not insignificant $40.
This is the G920i model, which is the standard international version. It should play nice with most GSM carriers bands, but you can check the full list of supported frequencies on the product page. Read More
This isn't really so much news as "I thought this was kind of cool and wanted to share it with all of you." I just received an evaluation unit of Samsung's new wireless fast charge pad for the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5, and upon opening I noticed immediately that it was quite a bit thicker than Samsung's old Galaxy S6 wireless charging pad. I then spied an array of what looked like (and as it turns out, are) ventilation openings all along the bottom of the charging puck. Could it be? Did Samsung build a phone charger with a fan inside it? Read More
